"Are you okay?"
You jolt as Jennie's hand touches your cold skin and she flinches at your movement before her widening at your reaction. The knife in your hand falls at a loud clank and it causes the boys to look back at both of you. Your eyes meet with Jimin's ones and you can't help but feel the blush rushing towards your cheeks before looking back down at the half chopped red bell pepper.
"Y/n?"She says puzzled
"I'm fine, "You shrug, lifting the knife once again. Tilting the pepper a certain way before chopping even more. " I swear I'm fine."
Jungkook and Jimin chat loudly, the television displaying some kind of soccer match that you guys really had no interest in. Jennie watches as you lookup every few so milliseconds just look at Jimin and she can't help but wonder what the hell happened.
"Can we talk about yesterday?" Jennie says, "Please?"
You tense up at her words, shuddering as an awkward breeze envelops your body so much that a thick layer of goosebumps is born on your skin. It wasn't endearingly a fresh feeling but your anxiety was rippling so much within you that even the memory was enough to almost cause you to fall apart.
"Someone broke into the house, " You whisper, " A-and I was sleeping on the sofa so I didn't hear him force himself in."
Jennie listens attentively, her hand gentle on your back while rubbing in small circles. You fall into comfort. Dropping the knife and turning towards your best friend.
"All I remember was him straddling my waist, his hands wrapped around my neck so tight that I almost passed out. As my vision almost went black - Jimin came in and they fought while I was calling the police."
"All I can remember is Jimin calling the man by his name. The police told me to never be alone again and I can't help but have the mindset that..."
"That what?" Jennie says gently.
"I don't think I can literally live without Jimin, "You admit honestly, " This is the second time he had come to the rescue. Without him...you could've found me dead, Jennie."
Dead.
That word literally brings tears to Jennie's eyes. That's the last thing she has ever wanted was to ever even hear was your name and that word in one sentence. For goodness sake, you were her other half. Her soulmate and the route of her solid happiness. For so long, her main priority was to protect you, always be there for you and love you.
But slowly but surely she could tell that things were changing.
Jimin had better chances at protecting you more than she ever could. After last night, that's when she saw it for her own eyes about what Jungkook had to say to her about Jimin having a soft side. But she still didn't feel comfortable with someone else doing her job.
And another thing that made her feel on edge was how my how much time she was spending with Jungkook. It's not like she wasn't happy that she was finding someone. Jennie was more scared about how her attention was dividing. It was raising her stress levels for you and she was getting even more paranoid about you.
And it scared her.
"Hey, "
Her head snaps towards the boys that stood by the the door way and you can't help but look at Jimin. You knew by the smirk on his face, that he had a teasing look behind his eyes and you feel blood rush to your cheeks as you break the eye contact.
Can he not look at you like that? It was making you more shy than your normally were and you hated feeling so.
"My car is ready, " Jungkook smiles, " Jimin and I are going to pick it up."
"Can I come with?"
And your small voice reaches their ears, suddenly all the attention was on you.
"Oh?" Jennie lifts her eyebrows and Jungkook can't help but glance at Jimin.
Something changed between both of you and Jennie as well as Jungkook can feel it. It was just a few weeks ago when Jimin called you out about too sensitive and calling you names that make Jungkook's jaw clench. And somehow Jennie doesn't forget the days when you would come home stressed and crying - complaining about Jimin.
But here you were.
You wanted to come with and yet Jimin didn't deny your request.
"I need help with my Literature anyway, " He says, shrugging his shoulders while grabbing his car keys from the kitchen counter.
"Okay, let me go fetch my school bag. I'll be right back."
Jennie watches as you shuffle out the kitchen, your small frame darting out the room in search of your school bag. You don't know where you guys will be going but you weren't too sure you guys are even coming back.
"Thanks for letting me stay the night, " Jimin smiles, "I'll be waiting in the car."
As Jimin walks out, Jennie couldn't help for her eyes to widen as she practically motions her hand in shock while trailing her way towards Jungkook.
"Did you just witness what I just saw?" She hisses, glancing around to make sure you weren't anywhere near the kitchen, "He didn't snap at her and she wasn't hesitant? Jungkook!"
"What?" Junglook shrugs.
"What do you mean what - did you not just see what I just sa-"
And Jungkook couldn't help but kiss her. Your mouth drops as you stare at them and Jennie doesn't even pull away. Her hands rested on his broad chest, Jungkook's hands having a gentle grip on your wrist. The kiss was sweet and short-lived. However when Jungkook decides to pull away. Jennie gasps.
Just as his doe eyes glance down at her quiet state, he smiles as he watched Jennie's eyes flutter open slowly. He was glad that the kiss worked, but he was more happy that her lips were actually softer than he had imagined.
You sit in the passenger seat of Jimin's rover. Pulling the seatbelt over your chest and watching Jimin sliding his sunglasses on.
"He'll be out in a second." You smile.
It was about time for Jennie to secure her own happiness too.
