“Hurry up Leo!” Mikey shouted.
“Ok, ok, I’m coming!” Leo said as he grabbed the popcorn along with the butter. He walked into the living room just as the Lou Jitsu movie was about to start. The turtle brothers had set up a sleepover with their best friend April; and since her parents were out on a business trip, the sleepover was as good as on.
“About time,” Donnie said as he took a handful of the popcorn. “I was beginning to wonder if you needed help.”
Leo lightly pushed his purple brother. “Just because I’m not the cook of the family doesn’t mean that I can’t make popcorn!”
“Guys, chill out!” April said. “The movie started, and unlike last movie/ sleepover night, I would like to hear it.”
The twins instantly quieted down, though they still were pushing each other around for a couple of seconds. Like April had mentioned, they weren’t really able to hear the movie due to the twins arguing about which Lou Jitsu scene was the best. Sure, they had seen this movie a million times, but it was one of the best movies of them all, so it had to be watched.
They watched the movie in silence, occasionally laughing at the punch lines of the jokes, and aweing when Lou got hit by one of the villains.
Once the movie ended, they decided to order pizza, and though the guys wanted to answer the door (mainly to steal a slice of pizza), April wouldn’t let them.
“I still don’t understand why we can’t answer the door,” Donnie said while watching as April ordered the pizza on her phone.
“I told you guys,” she said. “You’ll scare the pizza boy.”
"How can people be scared of us?" Mikey pondered. "We're not that scary, are we?"
"But we are mutants," Raph told his youngest brother. "And most people don't like mutants. That's why we have to stick to the shadows."
"Don't worry Mikey," Leo said as he patted Mikey's shoulder. "You aren't scary at all. Now Donnie on the other hand…"
That got the blue turtle slapped by his twin.
"Ow," he said as he rubbed his face. "Hey, don't blame the messenger, I just tell it how it is."
"Do you want me to slap you harder?" Donnie said as he stared Leo down. "Because I can totally slap you harder."
"Guys chill out," Raph said as he walked over to the twins. "We're supposed to be having fun, not arguing with each other."
"Yeah," Mikey said with a smile. "We have to have fun at a sleepover, we don't want a repeat of last time."
"That was totally Donnies fault," Leo said as he pointed to his soft-shelled brother. "It was his machines that went haywire."
"I said that it was still in beta," Donnie replied. "But you were the one that kept insisting that I brought it, so I had to do something to get you off my back."
The last time they had a sleepover, Donnie was making a machine to hook up to the Tv to make the sound louder. April's Tv only went up to a certain volume, which made them have to sit directly in front of it whenever they had a movie night at her apartment. Leo had wanted Donnie to bring it over to try it out, and though the genius had told the slider that it was still in beta many times, Leo had begged him to bring it. Donnie only agreed to get Leo off his back, and when he had hooked it up to April's Tv, everything went wrong. It had completely messed up April's Tv, and her parents weren't too happy when they came back the following day. April had also gotten grounded because of that, and she had to buy a new Tv with her work allowance.
"It doesn't matter who's fault it was," April said once she had finished making the call to the pizza place. "What matters is that we are going to have fun without any arguments. And I thought we said we wouldn't talk about this?"
"Mikey brought it up," Leo said.
"But I wouldn't have done it if you didn't hit Dee," Mikey shot back.
"Ok, how about we play a board game?" Raph asked, trying to lighten the mood.
"Great idea Raph," April said. "I'll go get Monopoly!"
~~~~~
Monopoly turned out to be a thing to pass the time. It had also lightened the mood, which made Raph happy since he didn't have to hear his brothers arguing. They had decided to play in groups; Leo paired up with Donnie (after lots of begging from Leo, Donnie finally agreed, as long as Leo listened to him when it came to money and buying property), Mikey paired up with Raph, and April decided to be the banker. Leo had tried to cheat most of the game; and sometimes he got away with it, and he tended to secretly show Donnie the money that he would steal from the bank. Donnie grinned slightly at his twin; both happy and confused.
"How did you manage to take the money without April knowing?" Donnie whispered to him.
"I have my ways," Leo whispered back with a grin.
Soon after they finished their game (with Leo and Donnie winning of course; though the others didn't think it was fair, but since they didn't have proof that they cheated, they let the twins win), the pizza finally arrived. April went up to answer the door and thanked the pizza boy with a tip and brought the pizza back to the living room. The guys dug in as soon as she placed it on the small table, barely leaving any for her. She managed to grab two slices before Raph got to them though, so she was pretty happy with that.
Once they finished with the pizza, they decided to play a game of Uno before they took their showers and called it a night. Leo had won the game (and actually didn't cheat this time), and the others groaned in defeat. They cleaned up the cards and the pizza boxes and was about to choose who would take their shower first when they realized Leo wasn't in the room. They soon knew where he was once they heard the shower go off.
"Are you serious?" Mikey whined. "He'll take all of the hot water!"
"We could always go and flush the toilet a couple of times," Donnie said. "Then we would all least have some hot water left."
"Let him have the shower," April said as she tied her hair in a messy bun. "We can always get him back tomorrow. He'll be expecting payback tonight, and this way we can throw him off."
"I like the way you think," Donnie said with a grin.
"We're not getting revenge on Leo," Raph said. "You can't fight fire with fire guys. Let him have the shower."
"You never let us have fun Raph," Mikey pouted.
Soon after Leo got done, the others took their showers one by one. Though the water wasn't that cold, it soon got colder after everyone got out, leaving April with freezing cold water.
"I said you could go before me," Donnie told her when she got out. "But you didn't want to."
"I'm fine," April said as she walked over to the hallway closet. She grabbed one of her blankets and wrapped it around her. "A little cold can't hurt me."
The guys were sitting on their blankets on the floor, waiting for Donnie and April to join them. They were going to watch one more movie before they went to sleep, but Mikey was already beginning to get tired.
"Hey Mikey," April said to him. "If you want to go to sleep, you can go into my room."
Mikey waved his hand at her, dismissing her request. "No, I'm gonna stay awake."
April smiled at her youngest friend and took her spot on the pile of blankets. She looked at them as they sat and watched the movie.
Nights like these are great, she said to herself. When I don't have to worry about school or my parents, and when I can just hang out with my friends.
Mikey didn't even last five minutes in the room; he fell asleep before the movie could really start. The twins fell asleep after thirty minutes into the movie, Raph falling asleep an hour later. April was left to turn off the Tv, making sure not to step on her friends as she passed by them. She laid back in her spot and closed her eyes, happy to be spending time with her friends. School and her job took it out of her most of the time, and when she could just relax with her friends… she couldn't ask for anything else.
