Chapter 10 - Worthy Adversaries

As she got back to her aunt's place, her two adorable babies have already finished washing up. XiaoRui sat on the sofa, playing with his robot toy, while beside him, WanLian Cheng was gently and lovingly blowing dry XiaoNai's long hair with a hairdryer.

The little rascal, though young, surprisingly have very good quality hair that is luscious, black, thick and smooth. Her little face framed by her beautiful hair, literally made her look like an angel.

"Mummy, you are home! Have you had dinner yet?" XiaoRui immediately put down his toy and ran to hug YouYou as she stepped through the door. What a heartwarming young boy.

"Yup, I've eaten! Since you have washed up, do hurry up to bed, tomorrow morning you still need to go school." YouYou could not help herself and gave a little peck on her son's little cheek as she gently shooed her children off to bed.

Just then, WanLian finished drying XiaoNai's long hair, she then tied her hair up into two pony tails.

"YouYou, you go ahead and take bath, I will put these two rascals to bed!" WanLian had singlehandedly raised her two children, so in terms of looking after kids, she is somewhat of an expert. The Tang family's twin babes are so sensible and obedient that it even surprised WanLian as usually children that age are a handful.

"Thank you aunt!" YouYou replied gratefully as her eyes sparkled with tears, having had such a long day, to have someone else help with child rearing is really a blessing to her.

However in front of her children, she refuse to show her weakness and her sufferings, for no matter how much suffering she must endure, she will never cry and allow them to be worried over her. Her children may be young, but they are highly intelligent, so she refuse to let her emotions affect them no matter what.

"Silly child, don't mention it." WanLian noticed YouYou came home empty handed and knew immediately that she must have suffered some setback and felt sorry for her.

"Mummy, we are going to bed!" XiaoNai held his little hand out to XiaoNai and together they walked towards their bedroom hand in hand.

"Bro, I wanna hug mummy to sleep...." XiaoNai pouted a little as she made her request in her small little voice. XiaoRui turned around and patted his sister's little cheek, "Mummy will join you once she have bathed, lets go to bed and wait for her."

WanLian smiled at the heartwarming sight and asked, "XiaoNai, is it alright if grandaunt hugged you to sleep instead?"

"No... I only want to hug mummy... I can't sleep well without mummy hugging me..." XiaoNai started sobbing as her eyes started to tear up, having been always well protected and taken care of by her brother, she seems a tad bit spoiled but was not unnecessarily unreasonable, just that this was a necessity for her. 

"Silly XiaoNai...." said XiaoRui as he showed her his cheeky face.

"I am not silly! You bad brother!" XiaoNai puffed up with indignity as she retorted.

XiaoRui stuck out his tongue cheekily and quickly ran into the bedroom. XiaoNai was so angry that the frame of her eyes have turned red from sobbing, WanLian could not bear to see her crying, so she quickly picked her up and gently coaxed her to stop.

WanLian knew that every child have their own specific sleeping habits, so it is understood when XiaoNai insisted to have her mother hugging her to sleep. The two children is now in a new environment, so it will take some time for them to get used to it, so sleep will be a little hard to come by. One moment they were scolding each other and the next moment, they are jumping on their bed like little rabbits. WanLian stood at the side of the bed and was so afraid they would injure themselves as they continued to jump so she urgently reminded them, "Be careful, don't fall of the bed."

YouYou finished her bath, shook her head and let out a sigh as saw that the bedroom was still a flurry of activity, children in all their innocence can be quite a handful still. "Alright, time to stop, that's quite enough now. It's time to sleep already, tomorrow you kids still need to go to school bright and early." YouYou chided her children as she walked towards the bed and picked up the pillows as she went. She turned to her aunt and said, "Aunt, you go ahead and retire, I will put them to bed."

"Ok, when they have slept, please come find me, let's talk then." WanLian also did not want to ask what happened to her in front of the children. 

YouYou nod her head and replied, "Ok, I'll be over once they have slept."
