Chapter 31 - Daddy Surrendered

That woman must have mistreated them. Otherwise, how is it possible for children this young to have such mature thoughts? The more he thought about it, the more he fumed, XiaoHan wanted to properly question that woman, what hav she been subjecting his children to.

"Brother, what is a pledge?" XiaoNai blinked her eyes and look at XiaoRui with curiosity as she asked.

XiaoRui pursed his lips like a wise old man and proudly replied, "Small kids like you wont understand anyway."

"Hello, you are just older than me by half an hour, I'm small then so are you!" XiaoNai retorted unamused.

"Even if I'm older than you by a minute, I'm still older than you, in my eyes you will always be a small little kid." XiaoRui especially loved to go against his sister and deliberately provoke her.

"Hmph! I can't be bothered about you anymore, daddy, do you have ice cream here, can I have some please?" XiaoNai is quite the foodie, her favourite food is ice cream, and because of that she had always been reprimanded for her indulgence. However, seeing that the daddy in front of her is so obliging towards her, she quickly learned that she could possibly get away with her request with XiaoHan, so she tried.

XiaoHan was still racking his brain for ideas on how to coax his daughter, when suddenly he heard her request, he could not bear to reject her and so he turned to his butler, uncle Yuan who was trying hard to control his mirth, and instructed, "Quickly, bring XiaoNai to have some ice cream."

XiaoRui glared at XiaoNai with disapproval as all she know right is foo, mummy's issue have not even been settled yet. Moreover, she only thought of indulging herself and never even thought to bring him some ice cream too. He puffed his cheek and said, "I've no intention to eat the ice cream, if you want to be my daddy, then let's get that pledge written and signed, that you promise to love our mummy, you will not bully her, you will not let her suffer, you will make sure she has enough money to use and that she will be the happiest woman in the world."

XiaoHan is having a headache now, dealing with his son that have clearly shown his intelligence that is on par with most adults. How can his son, this young, even understand the meaning of happiness and love? If they didn't even understand the magnitude of it, an requested him to love a stranger, made him promise not to let her suffer, then what about his own sufferings? Who would even care? Clearly, the two little fella couldn't be bothered.

"Qing, bring me pen and paper."

Having overcame his adorable daughter's obstacle easily with ice cream, now to deal with his son's challenge, XiaoHan must handle this seriously. Qing have also been trying hard to hide his mirth and a few times he almost laughed out loud, however he barely managed to force himself not to laugh. Oh gods, these two adorable kiddos are really interesting, they actually manage to ruffle the feathers of the usually calm and wise young master.

"Qing......" XiaoHan growled threateningly.

Qing dare not displease his young master, so he quickly took pen and paper over to him.

"We will speak, you do the writing!" XiaoHan had no choice but to oblige his son's request, else the meeting today to get his children to acknowledge him as their father would have ended in failure.

XiaoRui gave no heed to the thunder clouds gathering ahead of him and put on his brave front, he sat on the sofa like a little adult, his two tiny legs swung one after another as he began, "One, daddy must guarantee not to make mummy angry. Two, daddy must take up the responsibility of taking care of our monetary needs. Three, daddy cannot have any girlfriends. Four, daddy must treat mummy well and fulfil all that she need and want. Five....."

XiaoRui may be highly intelligent, however he is still only a four year old child, so the only conditions he could list out are all that he thought would be beneficial for his mummy, so when it came to the fifth condition, he could no longer think of anything else.

"Number five, let's keep it blank for now, when I have given it a good thought I will give it to you ok? Daddy!" one moment he was still acting like a little adult, the next moment he flashed his childish smile. Upon hearing his son finally calling him daddy, XiaoHan's ice cold heart completely melted into a puddle.

"Ok, your conditions, I fully accept, can I sign now?" XiaoHan still felt aggrieved, because the little fella seem to only have their hearts for that woman, it made him green with envy.
