Chapter 66 - Objectives Met

XiaoHan looked at his daughter's aggrieved little face and instantly felt that YouYou has gone overboard.

"XiaoNai, let's go, Daddy bring you upstairs to bed!" XiaoHan could not bear for his daughter to cry, not even to shed a single drop of tear as this would break his heart into so many pieces. YouYou swept XiaoNai up in one swift motion into her chest and warily stared at XiaoHan, "What do you think you are trying to do!"

"Nothing, I only want to bring kiddo upstairs to bed!" XiaoHan replied and impatiently stared at her.

"She will only want to sleep with me at night, even if you were to separate her from me, she will cry and fuss nonstop." YouYou knew her daughter's sleeping habits ad that she will only be able to sleep when she hugged YouYou's arm.

XiaoHan gave a shrug, "But she also wants to fall asleep with me beside her right now. Isn't that right, XiaoNai!"

"Yup, mummy, I really want to sleep between the both of you tonight, please, I beg you!" XiaoNai is still going all out to beg her mummy to accede to her request, with her pursing her lips into one thin line and looking downright serious, she looked so funny and exasperating at the same time. YouYou felt that if she acceded to her daughter's request tonight, she will not have any peaceful night rest for sure.

"Ok, mummy go take a bath first, you follow daddy upstairs first!" YouYou had no other choice except to give in inevitably to her bullish daughter's request. Glancing at the slim and petite body that had disappeared into the bathroom, XiaoHan could not help but quirked his lips up into a tiny smile as he savour his victory. When he realised what he was feeling, he froze in shock. That's strange, everyday he manages billions of dollars of business deals without batting his eye and had never found any satisfaction in those victory, yet on such a tiny matter right now, he gained a great sense of satisfaction, that he had never felt before, over whether he would get to sleep in with his daughter. He was bewildered at this revelation of the moment, just when have he started to allow that woman to rouse so many of his feelings?

"Daddy, hug......" XiaoNai's face was pure bliss at this moment, her wish is granted and she could finally go to sleep between her daddy ad mummy. XiaoHan happily picked up his daughter in one fell swoop and carried her upstairs, while he continuously showered her with kisses on her little cheek.

YouYou finished bathing and wore a very conservative pyjamas, her semi-dried hair tumbled down her back. She stood at the living room and looked towards the staircase leading to the second floor and had a myriad of feelings. This feelings are complete unbearable, after all, she gave in to her daughter's nonsense and agreed to sleep on the same bed as that man. She decided right there and then to kick that man off the bed in the middle of the night. He totally deserved what was coming, for the thing he did to her five years ago. She refuse to accept her fate and make up with him so easily, the truce is made for the sake of her two children that's all.

With that, YouYou took a deep breath and made her way up the staircase to the second floor. She gently opened the door to the guest room on the second floor and found her son sprawled all over the bed, already snoring and deeply asleep. This little guy's courage gave always been that of a lion and very much independent. Ever since the age of two, he had always climbed into bed and slept on his own. Even when she wants to hug him to sleep, he would refuse and wants to sleep alone. Very unlike her daughter who loved to stick to her as she slept, if her daughter is unable to hug her arm to sleep, she would throw tantrums for half the night and refuse to go sleep. Sometimes YouYou wonder if her two children were really twins born at the same time, given the drastically different temperament they have.

As she closed the door to her son's room gently, she could her from the next room, her daughter's happy and bright laughter. YouYou stood at the door outside of the bedroom and tensed up, she really needed a boost of courage to open the door to that room. Sigh, why did she hav to force herself to this extent? She finally pushed open the door and on the big bed in the room, she saw the little fella riding on the back of XiaoHan, pretending he was a horse. XiaoHan did not expect YouYou to suddenly enter the room, his high and mighty facade was momentarily throw out the window.

He quickly but gently grabbed his daughter off his back. "Daddy, I still want to ride....." the little fella was clearly not happy that her playtime was interrupted so abruptly. XiaoHan gently coaxed her immediately, "XiaoNai, lets stop for tonight ok? Tomorrow daddy will bring you horse riding on a real horse alright? Daddy's kept a few horses in my backyard."

"Are there any white horses? I love white horses!" XiaoNai was so excited when her dad said that he would bring her to horse riding, that she forgot all about riding on her daddy's back. XiaoHan was taken aback a little, "Ok, tomorrow daddy will get someone to buy a white horse over and you can name it, then that horse will be yours to take care of alright?"

"For real? Yay! Daddy is so awesome!" XiaoNai was so excited and happy upon hearing that she could name her own horse and look after it, that she could literally fly up to cloud nine. YouYou saw how XiaoHan indulged their daughter limitlessly and gave a cough to catch their attention. XiaoNai turned her head to the sound and saw her mummy, she immediately quiet down and looked obedient. XiaoHan's eyes closed to slit, his daughter seems to fear her, is that how she had always strictly educated his children?

"Our daughter is still so young, don't keep indulging her, else you would spoil her rotten in less than a month's time! By then if she were to rebel against you, I can't be bothered to help you clean up the mess." YouYou knew that to there's a limit when it comes to pampering children, especially three year old little girls, overindulging them will inevitably lead to a slew of bad habits.

XiaoHan's school of thoughts is obviously opposite of what YouYou thought, he blandly replied, "Daughter is mine, to pamper her is inevitable, isn't there a saying? Raise a son and be poor, raise a daughter and be prosperous. I am so wealthy, naturally my daughter should enjoy and be happy everyday of her life."

"What fallacy is that? Even if you are filthy rich, you should have some limits. She is still so young and have not many materialistic needs, if you want to give her all your love and concern, I have nothing much to say about that, however when it comes to materialistic needs, you really should not overindulge her and spoil her. She is also my daughter so I too have say in her wellbeing and I will not allow you to spoil her rotten." YouYou firmly and solemnly reminded him.

XiaoHan responded with sarcasm, "So I see, this is the difference in teachings between wealthy people and poor people"

"I can't be bothered to explain. XiaoNai, lie down and sleep, no more playing!" YouYou walked to the other side of the bed and lay down herself. XiaoNai looked her daddy and blinked her eyes twice, before she obediently lay down beside YouYou, she then pat the other side of her and said, "Daddy, lie down too, let's go to sleep!" XiaoHan looked into his daughter's black and clear big eyes and immediately felt better, so he too lay himself down to bed.

XiaoNai wrapped her two hands around YouYou's arms and then hitched her two legs onto her daddy's body, her little face looked like a cat that had stolen some cream and was very smug about it. YouYou saw her daughter's cute little gesture and just smiled at her little greediness.

XiaoHan originally laid on his back, however because of his daughter's adorable gesture and expression, he decided to lie on his side. His daughter, tiny as she is, could obviously not hide the bigger body beside her, so his deep and unmoving eyes naturally glanced at YouYou as he laid on his side.
