~ Chapter 16 ~

Jaemin left the apartment and made his way back to him. Lucky for him, their apartments weren't far from each other. 

Jaemin checked his phone and saw a text message from his mom. 

'Almost there' it said. 

'Great' Jaemin typed back, walking a bit faster. He really hoped he would make it in time. 

"Excuse me," he mumbled, trying to make his way around. 

Finally, he reached the front of the building of his apartment. 

The staff greeted him, but he didn't have any time to greet them back. Jaemin walked towards the stairs since the elevator would take too long. 

He went up 2 steps at a time, not really trying to be careful anymore. Finally, he reached the floor where his room was located in. 

Jaemin fumbled with the keys in his hand, trying his best to do it as fast as he could. 

He twisted the key, which opened the door. He quickly got inside, closing the door behind, and sliding down onto the ground, his back against the door.

He caught his breath, breathing at a more normal rate. And after 2 minutes, his doorbell rang.

"Coming," he said, getting up and looking at himself in the mirror. He didn't look too bad, so he opened the door, meeting the eyes of his father. 

Jaemin bowed to his father as his mother just pulled her son into a hug. 

"We're sorry for not being able to be with you a lot last night," she told him. 

"Oh, it's okay," he said to his mother as she took her coat off. 

"How are you?" Jaemin asked his father.

"I'm doing a lot better now," he replied. "But the office is getting busier."

His mother nodded her head in agreement.

"Oh, there are more people coming in?" Jaemin asked.

"Yes, you're correct," Mr.Na said, sitting down on the couch, followed by Mrs.Na.

"So Jaemin, I know you aren't doing anything, and you're probably really bored, so maybe you can start working at the office? You're going to become the CEO one day you know."

Jaemin's breath got caught in his throat. Yeah, he knew he would have to work there one day, but he didn't know it was this soon. He was only 22. 

"I know it's really early, but just think about it. You don't have to," his mother quietly said, trying to reassure him. 

Jaemin nodded his head and gave them a smile. "I'll definitely, think about it."

But the truth was, he didn't want to do it right now. First, he wanted to be extremely satisfied with his life. And at the moment, he wasn't. 

"So, where's Renjun?" his father asked, trying to break the silence. "I haven't seen him in a while."

"He went to China to see his girlfriend," Jaemin replied.

"When are you going to get a girlfriend?" his mother asked. "You can't be alone forever."

"Let the boy live," his father said. 

"What? I was just asking," she said, causing both Jaemin and his father to laugh. 

"He'll find one when the time is right," his father replied. "Besides, who wouldn't want a kind, well-mannered, and behaved boy like him?"

Jaemin nearly choked on air. If only his parents knew what was happening now.

"You're not wrong," his mother replied, sending Jaemin a smile. 

The family talked for an hour or two before his parents stood up to leave.

"It was really fun to hang out together like a family," his mother told him, pulling her son into a hug. 

"It really was," Jaemin agreed, hugging back. 

Next, he gave his dad a hug before pulling away.

"Think about the job," his father told him, getting a nod in response.

"Will do."

His parents smiled at their son once more before saying their goodbye's and leaving the room. 

Jaemin sighed in relief as he shut the door. He was actually proud of himself for not spilling anything about the recent events. 

Now, he had to go to Haneul's house to pick up the baby. He didn't really know. He was confused about how exactly they would take care of Hajoon.

After waiting for about 15 minutes, Jaemin put his shoes back on and grabbed his keys before opening his door, and heading down to the parking lot to get his car

After a while, he sat in the driver's seat and started the car, driving to Haneul's place

Honestly, all Jaemin hoped for at the moment was for everything to just go back to normal
