Confusion washed over Jaemin's face. He truthfully had no idea what was going on, or what his mother and Haneul was talking about.
Haneul gave him a small smile, and stood up, walking over to his mother before taking Hajoon from her, and walking out of the room.
He stood up and watched Haneul leaving with Hajoon. Awkwardly, both Jaemin and his mother just stood in silence.
"So.." Jaemin began. His mother gave him a small smile before going back into the hallway, and returning with a folder filled with documents.
She walked closer to Jaemin, making him more and more nervous. And curious as to what was in her hands.
She sat down, and signalled Jaemin to do the same. He hesitantly sat down as well, but couldn't let got of the feeling that something was wrong.
"What's that?" he asked, referring to the papers in her hand.
Mrs. Na looked at her son, and gave him a soft, motherly smile. She handed him the paper. Jaemin looked through it, but nothing made much sense. All he knew was that there was three names on the paper, along with a ton of other information.
"Jung Eun, Kim Min-Jun, and Hyeon?"
Jaemin turned to his mother, and gave her a confused look. And she understood what he was asking.
Taking a deep breath, she took the paper from him, and looked down at it before turning to him.
"Jaemin," she began. "Hyeon is Hajoon's real name."
After she said that, he instantly knew what was happening. A lump formed in his throat, before he asked the question.
"So, I'm not Hajoon's biological father?"
His mother shook her head no, but continued to speak. "Eun and your father made this whole thing up. They knew from the very begining you wouldn't want to marry a random girl for buisness reasons. They thought when you realized you were the 'dad' you'd take responsibility, and marry her."
Jaemin nodded his head, but he couldn't wrap the information around him just yet. So basically, his father and Eun made a plan to try and get him to marry her. That just showed how power-crazy his dad really was.
Jaemin realized how stupid and gullable he was as well. He should have looked more closely at the paper that Eun had. If he realized she was lying sooner, he could have avoided a LOT of moments.
And it was crazy to believe that they had planned this from the very beining. He was just shocked that his dad really knew that something would happen between him and Eun, casusing him to wake up with Hajoon.
But he knew for a fact neither Eun or Mr.Na knew what would happen between him and Haneul. And he was happy for that actually.
"I'm sorry Jaemin. If I would have known, I would have told you sooner-"
But he cut his mother off before she could finish her sentence. "It's okay," he began. "You didn't know, so there was no way you could have done anything about it."
Mrs.Na gave her son a small smile, and hug before pulling back. To be honest, Jaemin didn't know how to feel. He was actually a bit sad he wasn't Hajoon's father. But at least he would be able to raise him like his own.
With Haneul of course.
But a doubt quickly came to his head. He thought about it for a second before turning to his mother again.
"Mom," he began. "Who's Kim Min-Jun?"
"He's Hajoon's real father. Why?"
"Sorry, I meant, where is he now?" Jaemin asked, feeling the atmospere becoming silent again.
His mother scrunched her eyebrows before pulling out another file from her folder. "It says here that he sadly died in a car accident last year."
Jaemin felt pity for a minute before a small smile made it's way on his lips. But not for the death of the man. Instead, he was smiling because maybe, just maybe, something good would be able to happen.
"Mom," he mumbled, causing Mrs.Na to take her eyes away from the papers, and face him. "Do you think I would be able to legally adopt Hajoon?"
Well, welll, well. Who was expecting that? 👀
