~ Chapter 42 ~

Jaemin woke up the next morning to a baby. His baby. Specifically Hajoon. Even though he wasn't in the best mood, he couldn't hide his smile when he saw him.

Jaemin sat up in his bed, and grabbed Hajoon, putting him in his lap.

"You're going to be with me all day," Jaemin mumbled, kissing the top of Hajoon's head.

The baby giggled as if he understood what was being said. Well, maybe he did. But Jaemin was pretty sure he didn't.

The two stayed in bed, Jaemin too tired to get out. Last night's events flashed in his head, making him groan in annoyance.

After speaking to his dad, Jaemin and Haechan had talked before the CEO called again. This time, it was to tell Jaemin about working at the office. So starting Friday, he would have to come work with his dad.

And no, he hadn't told the CEO about the baby.

And yes it was already Wednesday.

After the whole phone call, Haechan had told Jaemin what he should do. He didn't like seeing his friend all sad and depressed. So he said what he thought was right. Jaemin should take a break from Haneul. Try not to think about her for a while.

And that was becoming harder and harder. His mind just wouldn't stay away.

Jaemin sighed, running his free hand through his hair before deciding to get up for the day. He carried the baby and laid him on the bed, changing his diaper just like Haneul had taught him.

Great. Now he's thinking about Haneul.

He told himself not to, but he couldn't help it. He fixed the diaper before picking the baby back up and walking to the kitchen.

Maybe making breakfast for Hajoon can distract him from his thoughts. Jaemin set the baby down in his chair and walked over to where the baby food was kept. Picking one out, he opened it and grabbed a spoon.

He turned around, and went up to Hajoon, putting some of the food onto the spoon, and raising it up to feed him. But before he could, Hajoon covered his mouth using his hands and turned his head.

Jaemin looked at him with a confused expression. Then he remembered he had to try it too. Taking a deep breath, he put the very unappetizing food into his mouth.

Trying his best not to show any signs of him being disgusted internally, he widened his eyes, trying to emphasize how good it was.

Hajoon smiled, and laughed, clapping his hands. When Jaemin finally swallowed the baby food, Hajoon had his mouth open, indicating that he wanted some too.

Jaemin smiled gratefully, happy that he could get the baby to eat. But of course, this brought back the memories when he fed Hajoon with Haneul. They had been so happy that day. It was hard to believe that in one day, their whole relationship was ruined.

Jaemin felt a lump in his throat and wanted everything to go back to how it was. Him and Haneul raising Hajoon. But dreams don't always come true.

He sighed, finally finished with feeding the baby. He picked Hajoon up and placed him on the couch, putting on a kid's show before heading to the kitchen to make his own breakfast.

Luckily, the kitchen and living room were close by so that he'd be able to keep an eye on the baby who was just laughing at everything the characters were saying.

A smile made its way on Jaemin's lips. Although Hajoon might cause a lot of problems with his mom and dad, he made Jaemin happy. And right now, that was what mattered to him.

After what felt like forever, Jaemin made his food and ate it all before walking back towards the baby.

He sat down and placed Hajoon on his lap, taking out his phone. When he saw his wallpaper, it made his heart flutter. He just didn't have the heart to change it.

It was the day the two were giving Hajoon a bath. Jaemin remembered taking a picture when Haneul was holding the baby who was wrapped in a large towel They were smiling wide, and it broke Jaemin's heart knowing that they'd never have these kinds of moments anymore.

He didn't realize that Hajoon had stopped watching T.V and was paying attention to the picture on Jaemin's phone. And Jaemin's smile came back when Hajoon pointed to Haneul and turned to Jaemin.

"Mama?"
