Solace of Calluna

Prologue

The Start

Nakaupo ako sa tumba-tumba habang pinagmamasdan ang mga makikislap na bagay sa langit, na nakikita ko sa malaking glass door sa harap ko.

Sa katabi ko ay ang pugon na may ibinubugang mainit na tensyon. Tamang-tama para sa malamig na panahon ngayon.

I look at the brightest star in the sky. It's glowing uniquely right now.

I closed my eyes and I see your face.

I remember you and our memories together. Of how your love changed my life.

I can't help but to be emotional.

I step forward.

The cold breeze touches my skin as I look into the breathtaking city lights in front of me.

I smiled.

It's very quiet from up here. I assume that everyone's probably sleeping right now.

The world is at peace at this type of hour. The city lights are giving enough radiance to the glistening stars in the vast night sky. And I like the serenity, console, sound, and atmosphere of it. It's so reflective.

Peace.

That's right. That's what I ever wanted ever since.

I did not mind the tears that started to form in the corner of my eyes.

I moved forward once again.

I am fully aware that I only have one step forward left. Otherwise, I won't be able to feel the comfort of this air, ever again.

I closed my eyes.

For the emotions that I don't want to feel again... For all the dreams that I got tired pursuing because of lack motivation... For everything that made me feel worthless, anxious, and regretful... For the tired soul, for me.

I am now ready to take a step forward.

I am now ready to be on my own peace.

The moment that I was about to step my foot, a voice stopped me.

"The world is beautiful, isn't?"

I opened my eyes. I returned my foot on the ground.

"Do you want to know why the stars and moon are shining for you?"

I heard his footsteps coming closer to me.

I didn't the answer the question, I just looked at the sky.

The luminosity of the stars and moon bring light to my eyes and heart. So wondrous that I want to be there too.

"Because they're also in awe of how beautiful you are."

I grasped for some air to breathe.

"I don't deserve them." I said.

"You're right, stars and moon aren't enough. Because you deserve the whole universe."

I slowly turned to the man beside me. I'm taller than him since I am standing at the edge of the rooftop.

"Would you mind if I join you here?"

He offered his hand to me. He didn't wait for my answer.

"Do you want to witness the beauty of the world with me?"

Beauty of the world?

I look at the moon, stars, and city lights once again. Is there such thing aside from all of these?

I look at his hand that looks soft and warm.

Tears are now drifting from my eyes down to my cheeks.

I hold his hand. I accepted his offer.

He carefully carried me down. And unknowingly of what is happening, I just found myself crying in between his arms.

"You're the kind of flower that blooms at night, and that makes you special." He whispered at my ears.

And somehow... At that moment, I feel at peace. With him.
