Heyyy, I wanted to release this chapter last night but my friends kinda distracted me. I'm sorry babies for taking too long. So, shall we?
I looked around and saw hundreds of beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen dressed in expensive outfits. As expected. It was a dinner for crying out loud.
A part of me felt intimidated as I admired these people of value. Nobody would have expected that I was not as extravagant as they were cause of my beautiful red dress. I looked at it and I could feel the billions of money radiating from it. Not to mention the jewelries I had on. I then recalled the conversation I had earlier with Baldwin.
"Am I returning everything when we're done at the dinner?"
He laughed hard. "Don't be ridiculous. It's all yours princess. I told you of how ravishing you would look."
Yes! Mum complained of how we didn't have enough money but by selling all what I was wearing...haha. Let's see who doesn't have money anymore. Now, I could really focus on finding dad's killer.
Dylan cuffed my arm which brought me out of my funny thoughts and he whispered something to the usher who was dressed in black and white.
The usher nodded which showed that he understood and then took us to a table where another couple were seated. The man's attention was on the stage while the blonde woman kept gawking at me. She had big eyeballs which made her stare more uncomfortable.
Dylan dragged a seat out for me.
"Thank you." I said to him and looked at the different delicacies on the table. Oh! I was so hungry that I could eat anything at that moment like I couldn't remember the last time I ate but Tessie behave. This is not your house.
"Hello." The white lady with big eyeballs said to me. She looked so pretty and her date was also good looking. To be honest, I didn't see even one ugly person in that place. Money makes you fine!
"Hi. I'm Teresa."
The lady chuckled. "I didn't ask for your name. Stop being too forward."
Huh? Who does she think she is? "Well, everyone should be allowed to do whatever the hell they want to."
Dylan placed his hands on mine. He had already sensed what was happening but hers was still concentrated on what was happening on stage. She rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry but we don't accept nuisance in this company and you clearly used a curse word."
I chuckled. "Will you throw me out? Ouu I'm really scared."
Dylan cleared his throat. "Okay, I think it's enough..."
"No sire." She said to Dylan. "That's it with black people. They're so aggressive and ghetto all over the place so this behavior is very expected of her."
What? Okay, she was being racist to me. I don't know who she was but she was about to ruin my night.
"With all due respect, don't talk about my girl like that." Dylan said to her with a serious face on.
He just called me his girl but that wasn't my priority right now. I couldn't just leave it to him. I had to give her back what she had already started.
I laughed. "And the award for the dumbest racist goes to...sorry I didn't get your name but I don't care...but that award goes to you."
She moved uneasily on her chair and looked at Dylan. "If I should control myself around this negro then she should do also. I know it's not in her blood to be composed but at least she should prove me wrong."
Dylan tightened his grip on my hand. "How dare you?" He said but she didn't care. She was expecting my reply and yuh, I was gonna give her one. I never expected the dinner to go this way.
I laughed. " You think calling me negro would get me pained." I laughed again. " I wasn't wrong when I called you dumb. How did you get a job in such a prestigious company cause who employs a person with a small brain..."
Dylan then said to me. "To the bathroom now." He dragged me along with him before the white lady could say any other word. We entered the bathroom which was unisex in an odd way. Why was it unisex?
I rested on the sink and he faced me. "What were you doing out there?"
"Oh miss me with that bullshit. She started everything."
"Then ignore Teresa."
"I should ignore someone insulting my race? No! I can't overlook such."
"But she didn't start with that."
"She said I was being too forward. Who does she think she is? My mother?"
"Teresa just calm down. I'm trying to shut her up but she won't if you don't stop replying her."
I shook my head. "Why aren't you sitting in the VIP? Isn't this your father's best friend's company? Cause if we were, I wouldn't be in a conversation with that woman."
He heaved. "Sadly, I don't want to sit there. That'd be too much attention for me. So, you have to ignore her when we get back to the table. I mean we just got here."
I looked at him. Why didn't he want to seat in the VIP?
"Why? Why don't you wanna be in the VIP?"
"I don't know if you've noticed but I don't like too much attention. But, if you want the VIP then fine, let's go there."
I then realized that it'd look like I'm scared of her so we left the table. No. If anyone's leaving, it should be her.
"No. We're not leaving."
He looked away. "Please, don't go back there to fight with her. It's not worth it."
"So, why're you taking her side?"
He looked away. "Don't do this Tes. I'm not taking sides. I just want to settle everything."
"Is anyone paying you to settle arguments? She was very mean to me and you expect me to smile back at her and say thank you. I wouldn't do that. If you didn't want a girl who'd stand up for herself then you shouldn't have asked me to be your date."
He nodded. "I'm sorry Tes. Don't take things this way. That's why we should change our table."
I shook my head. He doesn't understand anything. "I've told you that we're not changing our table. Just leave. I'll meet you outside."
"Tes?"
"Just go." I shrugged. I needed time to get myself back together.
"I'm really sorry." He said and left the toilet.
