Thinking of how my life would turn out to be since I had lost this great opportunity with my own hands, I watched her body turn to the left as she walked out of the elevator elegantly till I couldn't see her again.
Instead of thinking of the most miserable things, I began to think of how I'll get another job. I guess that's the only way because, I wasn't giving up now.
Yes, this job was a great deal but, I happened to stumble on Farassis fingering and kissing Diane passionately. That was no way my fault but, the deed had been done so no need to sulk over anything.
"What did you just say?"
Wait, I knew that voice and Diane turned towards it in fear.
She arranged her hair uncomfortably and adjusted her lipstick with a smile. "Son...what're you doing here?"
My eyes fell on Bran who was standing outside the elevator. I could tell that he heard almost everything we said while the elevator was opened but, how Diane didn't see him when she walked out was an irony.
Maybe she didn't just notice. I thought.
"I was walking back to my room then I overheard you guys. Why are you making her leave?" He had on a frown.
"Uhm..." she said with widened eyes. " ...you...you heard our conversation?"
He rolled his eyes. "Look, she's not getting sacked. She was even pleading that she needed the money, mom." He turned his head to look at me and I could tell that he saw the excitement in my face. He was a God sent!
At first, I wanted to stop sulking and think of ways on how to generate money but, I knew deep within me that this job was the biggest jackpot.
"No, son...I wasn't telling her to leave..." she said with an obviously fake smile.
"I heard correctly ." He snapped.
"I'm aware that your fond of her....I mean, you guys are close so I wouldn't tell her to just leave like that....I'm also fond of her cause she reminds me of your late sister...."
Huh? This woman was just building up lies. She was the one who some minutes ago swore to never see me in this mansion. Now, she's pulling off this act in front of her son. Wow. It was a good thing for me though.
"Yes Bran.." I interrupted her. "That wasn't what she was saying. She didn't mean it the way you heard it." I said trying to buy her trust.
He scoffed. "Whatever you two are doing...I'm not a fool."
We both froze because, we thought he would fall for our acting.
"Mom....she's very special to me and this job means a lot to her...so no one is making her leave. When I mean no one....I mean dad too!"
She gulped in spit. "Son...."
"I hope I'm clear?" He asked sternly and she nodded like he was her dad.
He turned to me and said. "Follow me."
Normally I wouldn't go after him cause I felt like he was being too bossy but in that situation, I walked after him since he just saved my job.
She held my hand and whispered to me. "You little brat....you're no longer under Rose...I'm assigning you under Claire.""Sister Claire?" I asked trying to remember her 'department'.
"No...brother Claire. Get out of my sight." She said with disgust and as I wanted to go she added. "If you tell anyone of what you saw, I'll slit your throat into pieces."
Lmao. Was that meant to scare me? More like a threat haha.
Now that my job was secured, telling her secret to anyone depended on my choice. She never knew that I was also a fighter lol. " Okay." I said then left.
Bran and I had already walked to the next hallway then he stopped and pinned me to the wall with one of his hands on the wall too. We were very close to each other which sent shivers through my spine.
Then, he asked. "Why did she want you to leave?"
I couldn't tell her secret but I knew that I wasn't going to lie. "She felt I was a threat."
He frowned. "Why?"
"Cause I saw something that I wasn't meant to see."
He frowned. "What did you see?"
I kept staring into his eyes noticing how eager he was to hear it. To put him out of that, I opened my mouth to speak.
Don't forget to make that little star shimmer. Love ya!
