Teresa's Pov
BACK TO THIS DAY.
Looking at my hands in those cuffs, I waited patiently in the interrogation room and to be honest, it was a lot. At least, the first time I was hand cuffed in my whole life was in Bran's car the other day. Even if I ever imagined getting handcuffed, it was for other sexually pleasing reasons and not GETTING JAILED!
I knew at the end of the whole interrogation I would still end up in jail cause it was nothing but the truth and no one would believe me. It's just facts.
At least if I'd have even informed Martial earlier, I wouldn't have been in this dirty mess for real. I took in a deep breath as I adjusted my hands in the cuffs. No matter how I told myself that I would have involved the police I knew I couldn't cause that night, I didn't want to be cautious at all. I mean I was full of rage, bitterness and sadness that my mind never went to the right option.
Now look where we are. Haha.
Tears clouded my eyes as I remembered my mother. Oh shit. What would she be thinking right now? I don't even want to imagine it at all but, it was just a lot to take in. This woman had warned me severally to drop the whole revenge thingy but I wouldn't even listen. I mean, what's the whole point if I end up dead or in jail for life imprisonment.
No!
That murderer needs to pay! The person needs to suffer for what happened but, what was the use? How could I possibly make him pay when I'd soon be jailed for murder which I didn't even commit.
Fuck it! Fuck everything! Fuck the murderer!
Then, a drop of tear escaped my eyes as Martial opened the door with some papers in his hands. He dropped the papers on the table and shook his head in pity. "I told you...."
"Shut up and do whatever you want to do. Let's be quick." I said in pain as I bent my head to wipe the tear away with my arm.
"I'll be here during the whole interrogation but I'm not the one in charge. I refuse to be in charge of this because I'm nothing but disappointed."
"If you're not in charge of my case then there's no damn reason for you to be here." I said into his eyes and he laughed. "You're mad at yourself...I can see."
We got interrupted by the sound of the door and our eyes turned to see a blonde pretty lady in a brown suit. The suit wasn't really nice on her but it didn't matter cause her beauty out matched it.
"Good morning Martial." She said and sat down on the seat opposite me. Meanwhile, Martial moved to a corner of the room and folded his arms listening to everything.
"Good morning Teresa Houston."
I rolled my eyes and she continued.
"I won't waste further time on this...."
"Touche." I said and everyone fell quiet for few seconds.
"Okay..." the lady said in surprise and kept on. "Well, I'm Yenefer Hunington and I'll be in charge of this case which is the murder of Mr Charlie. Going straight to the point, why did you go to Mr Charlie's house at exactly 8:45pm?"
I heaved. "Mr Charlie's my late father's friend...why shouldn't I go for a simple visit?"
She frowned. "Miss Teresa, I'm the one asking questions here so, reply each one with an answer...not a question!"
"Am I getting you triggered?" I asked looking into her eyes. I could tell that she was already annoyed by my attitude which gave me a bit of joy. Somehow, I needed to transfer the anger I had in me to someone else. Not fair? I know and I didn't give a fuck.
BANG!!!
Martial hit the table which startled the both of us and he said to me. "Teresa! Quit whatever you think you're doing and do the right thing!"
I thought he wasn't in charge so, why was he so bothered? Anyway, I still didn't care but gave no reply. It wasn't necessary.
"Thank you Martial." Yennefer said and rubbed her lips together. "Okay....I'll ask again...why did you go to Mr Charlie's house at exactly 8:45pm?"
I smirked. "I went to his house to ask him if he was the one who killed my father and why he hadn't returned my dad's car. Happy now?"
"Not yet. You still have some questions..."
"Go on then."
"You know that these kind of things are meant to be handled by the police. Why did you interfere?"
"Because.....I'm stubborn and the police weren't serious about the whole situation. I wasn't interested in that."
"Now look where it has gotten you." She said with a brow lifted up. I could tell that she was getting back at me for what I did earlier which was very expected from her.
"You're right but I don't regret a dime." I lied. Man...I was full of regrets.
She chuckled slowly in a suspicious way. "The cameras showed that you drove the car out of the city...why?"
"To burn it. It needed to be burned."
She chuckled again. "May I know why?"
"Cause I wanted to. It's my car according to my father's will....so, I can do whatever I want to with it." Then I thought....she hasn't asked me any question about the murder. It was as if she was beating around the bush before coming to the main point. What was she up to? I asked myself as I dimmed my eyes looking at that smirk on her face.
