Teresa's pov

After all the failed attempts to get myself out of those cuffs, I rested my back on the seat giving up. I looked around and wondered what he went to do in the middle of nowhere.

Whatever.

I just had to find a way to patiently wait for him since I couldn't escape so I shut my eyes.

The sounds of chirping birds filled my ears which was very relaxing. Then, I remembered a song my dad used to sing to me when he was still here on earth.

One day in my 5th grade, I came back home crying because some white girls were laughing at my long black hair. I was so hurt that I wished I had blonde silky hair like theirs.

That day, I came back home almost in tears and he asked what was wrong. I explained everything to him and he used his hands to clean those tears from my face said to me. "They're just jealous that your hair is way longer than theirs."

I looked at my hair and realized it was actually beautiful and really long. "It's amazing just the way it is." He added and started singing the song to me. That was the first time he sang that song to me. Every morning, both of us would sing it out loud.

Slowly, I began to hum the song as I sat in that car. Opening my eyes, I saw my dad beside me humming along with me and I smiled as tears gathered my eyes. Then we started singing it out loud together.

"Cause you're amazing! Just the way you are...and when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while! Cause girl you're amazing! Just the way you are! The way you are! The way you are! Girl you're amazing, just the way you are..." Tears dropped from my eyes when I realised that it was just my mind playing games with me. The only thing I wished for was for that moment to never end. "When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change...cause you're amazing, just the way you are... and when you smile the whole world stops and stares for a while! Cause girl you're amazing! Just the way you are!"

I missed him. Damn! I missed him so much. He gave me a smile before dissolving into thin air. I didn't want him to go but it was just my imagination that I had no control over. Oh no. I love you dad.

I used the back of my hand to wipe my tears away then, I saw Bran watching me from outside the car. Quickly, I finished cleaning and pretended like nothing just happened. I just prayed that he didn't actually see me singing and pouring out tears like I was about to refill a dried river.

He got into the car and we said nothing to ourselves. I tried to distract myself from the awkwardness between us but he didn't have the same thoughts. He was breathing very hard that I turned to him wondering what was wrong.
I couldn't ignore the way his grip was so tight on the steering. Yes! There's definitely something wrong with this man.

He brought out a bunch of keys from his pocket and unlocked my cuffs. Without saying anything, he began to drive. Okay, that's weird.

To be honest, he gave me that impression of someone who's always happy and carefree but right now, he was acting really strange. I had to get away from this stranger as fast as possible cause I couldn't deal with this.

Then, he began to speed unprovoked. My eyes drifted to the speedometer and we were almost on 120km/h. Jesus! Did he want to get us killed?!

"Bran...Bran." He didn't reply. "Brandon are you crazy?!" He said nothing but instead increased the speed. Oh my God! My heart and pulse rates spiked cause this guy was going crazy. I had to stop him before we'd get to 180km/h and something really disastrous would happen.

"Stop!!!" I screamed!

Scrrrrrr!!! The car stopped abruptly with the seat belt holding me down to my seat so I won't hit my head against anything. I tried to catch my breath and shot him stare daggers.

"I'm sorry... I wasn't thinking straight."

"Well, fuck your thoughts! You would've killed us!" I said. I wished I had another means of transportation but, he was all I had in this lonely road.

"I'm sorry. I just need time to think...there's a riverbank not too far from here. I know you have to meet up with your mom but just give me some minutes to think." He turned to meet eyes with mine then, I saw something in his. It was like he was pleading with me.

"Okay... please, don't drive like you're on some suicide mission."

"Trust me...if I was the only one in this car...I'd have been on that mission."

He said nothing more and began to drive.
