Dylan's Pov

TWO DAYS BACK

This sexy woman was already turning me on and she gets a call then be like she gotta go. What the actual hell? The way she was acting seemed like she actually wanted to go.

I got alerted by the beeping of my pager and said quickly. "Ward 216A! Something's wrong." I specially took full responsibility of that patient because I knew I could handle her. It was a just a gunshot to the arm. No major vessels or nerves affected.

I stood up abruptly and pecked her. "I gotta go save a patient's life."

Honestly, leaving was the last thing I wanted to do but, I had already made an oath with this profession. Running, I began to think of what would have possibly gone wrong with Jennifer. I mean, I glanced at her ward today so, what the actual fuck happened?

Her vital signs were perfect....everything was okay.... I couldn't wrap my head around everything but, I trusted the nurses to at least keep everything stable before I get there. I trust my team.

I got to the ward and the blue eyed blonde nurse welcomed me with a worried face. I could tell that whatever was going on was catastrophic. So much for I trust my team.

"There was a code blue...." I started and the code nurse interrupted me.

"Yes Doctor. Nurse Kendra said that when she got here, she wasn't breathing again so we've been doing compressions, defibrillated once and given 1mg of epi."

"Okay you've given her a shot of epinephrine...." as the normal code blue routine... "give vasopressin when it's time."

"Okay Doctor."

My eyes drifted to the nurse doing the compressions which were not really fast but deep just as she was trained. I could also see that she was panicking....I mean we were all scared cause this patient was fine minutes ago.

"Doctor.. the patient is a-systolic."

"I can see that Brenda. Thank you. Let's defibrillate this patient." I said referring to the other nurse. "About to defibrillate...everyone stay clear of the patient."

Everyone moved away from the bed so we could shock the patient then, the nurse called out. "Shock administered."

"Good work." I commended and added as Brenda continued with the compressions.
"anything?"

"No result sir." The nurse who was observing the defibrillator said. Oh God! Why wasn't she responding after everything...what must have gone wrong? We had already removed the bullet and she was already fine to the extent that she was very close to being discharged.

"Administer 1mg of vasopressin." I said and the anaesthesiologist tried again. "Kendra can you take over from Brenda? Brenda seems tired and needs a switch."

"Yes doctor." Kendra, the blue eyed nurse, responded.

I took in a deep breath and tried to comport myself. My whole team were already worried and sad putting all our efforts but to no avail.

It was time to shock this lady again and I decided to increase it so I shouted it out already losing my mind and the whole procedure was repeated.

She still didn't respond and I could feel it. She was going to die. I mean we've tried as much as possible to revive her but she wouldn't budge. I looked away and still noticed that she was experiencing asystole. I needed to act fast...we increased the shock again and before we knew it.....

Pimmmmmmmmmm.

That sound of the monitor which depicted death. Everyone fell silent instantly and heaved in harmony.

I tried to stop it but there was nothing more we could do. "Brenda...call out the time of death."

She looked at the clock in sadness cause all her efforts to revive Jennifer was a waste. "10:55pm."

I turned to the intern in the room. "Take a sample of her blood and tell me if there's anything unusual. This isn't a natural death. Well done everyone. We tried our best."

I walked into my office and sat down. After a while the intern came in and said. "We found poison in her blood stream. Kind of slow poison that was why her heart didn't give up quickly. You were right after all."

I was right but it was already too late so I nodded. "Okay kid. Don't forget to add it to-her reports and all."

"Yes Doctor Dylan." He said and left. I took out my phone from the drawer and dialled his number. The sound of the ringing phone disgusted me but I just had to pass the message across so I waited patiently.

Finally, he picked. "Hello..."

"Your daughter is dead." I said coldly and I could feel the shock from the other side of the phone.

"Dy...."

"I would've killed her myself like I promised you but I was just thinking...how'd I kill her without losing my license...and someone came in here and helped me do the perfect job."

"No....how did you....were you her doctor? I thought you weren't working in this city."

I laughed sinisterly and replied. "The great El Casirk being this slow. Come on! I was expecting more. I decided to be transferred to Wesbron's hospital just because of your daughter. I wouldn't let such a sweet opportunity pass me by."

"What? You've been in this city? I got distracted oh damn you Demorte!"

"Fuck all the nonsense you're saying. This isn't the end cause I'll make you pay...I'll make you pay...." I tried to get myself as I remembered the whole scenario again. How my mother was being shot ten good times. "And I ain't stopping till I send ten bullets into your body. Fucking twat."

"I'm gonna sue you!"

"Oh please do....will the doctor who threatened and acted unprofessionally or the man who sent his men to kill and rape my mother spend a lifetime in jail? That'd be fun to know." I stopped and then continued sternly. "Come take her body cause, we don't want things like that in our hospital." I cut the call and rested my back on the chair.
