My ears were filled with the little drops of rain outside my mom's ward. I loved the smell of the wet sand after rain finished falling cause it reminded me of times when I had friends. We would try to mould objects with the sand or even throw it at ourselves but when maturity set in...so many things began to come between us.

Especially racism.

I lost all the little children I used to call friends and till now, I have no friend. Just family and people I know. That's why I can do anything for family. Any fucking thing!

I hadn't forgotten about that murderer. I was still on it cause I had already made an oath to myself to deal with the culprit. I wanted to visit the station today to see Mr Marshal but I had to think of how I'd take care of Mr Charlie. That bastard who wanted our family car sold so, he could raise money to pay the drug lord he was owing.

Damn! I had so many questions for him. I even wanted to know if he was the one that sent someone to kill dad so no one would collect that car from him. That bloody car was still with him! After talking to him, I'd definitely get our car back. We could sell it and raise money which would save mom from working at two places.

My attention then drifted to the beautiful dinner gown and expensive earrings Dylan had given me. They were neatly arranged on the chair beside mom's bed. It's been two days and I haven't spoken to him. We haven't even crossed paths but, I concluded to go to his office and return everything today.

Then, I looked at mom who was sleeping peacefully on her bed. Her doctor said that she'd be discharged very soon. Trust me, that made her very excited.

Finally, I packed the clothes and prayed that no one would judge me for going about the hospital with clothes.

Whatever. What's anyone's business by the way?

I began to move my legs but my mind wasn't happy about it. I mean, I really thought he'd come apologize or something but no! He's hiding like a little boy in grade 5.

Now, I was infront of his door and I took in a deep breath. Typical me would never knock so I opened the door gently just cause we weren't really on good terms. I got inside and spotted him sitting on the seat behind his desk. His eyes were also on me and I nodded in understanding. He wasn't sorry. I mean obviously he didn't give a fuck so I broke the awkward silence.

"I...I just wanted to return..."

"Teresa." He interrupted me and looked at the floor. "I can explain."

"You know what...it's not necessary. We're total strangers and we don't owe each other any explanation." I was getting pissed so I just wanted to do what I came for and leave!

"I know... I fucked up but I didn't know how to approach you." Now, he was looking into my eyes.

Wow. He's so unbelievable. "Do you know you put my life in danger and you're here telling me bullshit of how you didn't know how to approach me? You know your explanation ain't necessary cause if I didn't come here...this wouldn't be happening."

"I'm sorry... I'm really sorry... I can't..."

Okay this was the height. I dropped the clothes on the sofa and said. "Here...thanks for making me look beautiful. Alright I'm outta here."

"No...don't return them...I got them for you."

"I can't keep them." I said blankly and turned my back to leave.

"Teresa...please...it's not my fault."

I shook my head. He really thinks I'm a kid. How on earth is it not his fault for leaving me in the bathroom? He had guards that could even come get me if he couldn't.

The shirt I was wearing had long sleeves so, I folded the sleeves and walked closer to him so he'd see the injury the bullet gave me. "Can you see this?! A bullet brushed my fucking skin in that bathroom cause, I wasn't in the right place at that moment. I was scared Dylan... I even remembered the incident of my dad in there." Tears gathered my eyes and I said. "You know what, this is messed up." I wanted to leave but he stood up from his seat and grabbed my arm.

"Damn! Teresa I'm sorry. This was never my intention. If I was okay...I'd have come get you myself..."

The door opened abrupt and we both looked to see Baldwin whose shoulders dropped immediately he took in the position we were in. I removed my arm from his hold and arranged my sleeve. "It has happened already and the only thing you can tell me is sorry. That's it...doctor." I walked out of his office without acknowledging Baldwin that was standing by the door.
