TERESA HOUSTON KEEP CALM. YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE THE JOB YOU JUST SECURED.
Those were the words I told myself as I walked to the cabinet where glass cups were arranged perfectly.
I already knew that there were stacked packets of bottled water at a corner but, I decided to get one from the fridge. I picked a medium sized bottle of water with a glass cup. I walked towards him and gestured it to him but, he didn't collect it. The other maids were watching everything that was happening keenly.
He cleared his throat. "I'm not thirsty anymore...you wasted too much time."
I groaned within me and walked back to return everything then, he called out. "I'll just take the water. You can bring it."
I turned and looked at him. "Okay." Trust me, it took a whole lot of patience to say that word. I walked back to him and he closed his eyes. "Still wasted time...."
He paused and smirked at me. AGAIN!
I was gradually losing it and I told myself that if he doesn't take this bottle, I'll still do whatever he says cause apparently he's my boss. Tragic. He was just having a lot of fun and I could see it.
He collected the bottled water and flinged it to Genevieve who caught it swiftly. "Give me a glass of water pretty."
In split seconds, she took out a glass cup, poured the water into it, placed the cup of water and the half bottled water on a tray and handed it to him. He drank from the cup and said. "That's how to get someone a cup of water."
I don't bloody care. Only if I could say it out loud to everyone's hearing. Haha.
"You don't want to get your ass sacked." He added.
"Okay. Thank you." He could see the attitude I was putting on but, he didn't stop which made everything more annoying.
"What's your name?"
I frowned in surprise. Why was he acting like he didn't know me anymore or did he get brainwashed?
He repeated himself raising an eyebrow. "What's your name? Are you also slow in thinking?"
The other girls giggled silently and I threw death stares at him. He didn't care cause he went ahead to give me another smirk. I shook my head. "I'm Teresa and I'm not slow in thinking and in what I do."
"Teresa who?"
Okay, at least I was sure that he didn't know what my surname was and I replied. "Houston."
He nodded. "Okay...I'll call you slow."
It was just one string left to lose it completely but I still managed to be calm. "I just told you that I'm Teresa....."
"Houston....I heard you but, I want to call you slow. Do you have a problem with that?"
He fucking interrupted me!
I knew what everyone was expecting from me. You know, to be meek. I really wanted to walk out or just say something rude but I couldn't. I couldn't just because of the environment and I could see it in his face that he was enjoying each moment.
He asked again. "Any problem with that? You're really slow and you're doing nothing but proving it." He turned his back. " I'll leave now but, I'd like to know the answer to my question."
I didn't want to say it but, everyone in that room knew that it was the right thing to do. The words came out as a muffle cause I was actually mad. "I have no problem with it."
Brandon would get a fair share of what he just did to me. Oh well, could I actually guarantee that. Oh shit. Brandon Edwin ugh.
"Good." He turned to face me just so I could see the annoying smirk on his face then, he walked out of the kitchen.
I tried my best to get myself back together as my new friend walked up to me saying. "I've worked here for three years and this is the first time I'm seeing Brandon in the kitchen...talk more of conversing with one of the maids."
I chuckled out loud and said within me. 'Because that motherfucker knows who I am."
