TERESA'S POVI had already braided my long black hair into five parts. I checked the time and it was almost time for visiting hours in the hospital to begin. Everything was going well cause, it just stopped raining. I was sure she'd be hungry so, I cooked for her and packaged it into a warmer. I added some fruits too.
It's been three days since my mom was admitted to the hospital. The doctor said her blood pressure was already 145/95. All I was grateful for was the fact that she didn't die.
Since that day, I never spoke of dad's demise with anyone except the cops but still swore that I'd kill anyone who was responsible for his death. I had already visited the station five times in the past days. I was that desperate to find out the identity of the killer.
"Daniel." I called out and he came out of his room and wrapped his arms around my waist. I smiled and pecked his black hair. "Let's go see mummy."
"Alright."
"Go get your jacket. It's cold outside....plus it just stopped raining."
He hugged me even tighter. "I miss dad." At that moment, my brown eyes got watery as I replayed the whole scene again. How I saw blood gush out of his head. I quickly got that thought out of my head."I miss him too." My voice cracked so I cleared it and got myself back together. "But mum needs us now so let's go see her and...."
"But why's all this happening to us?"
I loosened the hug and bent so we could be on the same page. "I don't know. I....really don't know but let's keep praying. That's all we can do. Now, stop asking questions and go get your jacket so we could meet mum."
He nodded and ran to his room. He was just thirteen and I knew how hard it was for him to take in everything. I heaved and gulped in my spit as tears rolled down my cheek. This was a very hard time for all of us but I had to be strong for everyone.
"Let's go T." His voice took me out of my thoughts so I cleaned my face with the back of my hand.
It was a fifteen minute drive. I paid and we got out of the car then, I held my brother's hand and held the bag on the other hand so we could cross to the other side of the road. The cars kept coming so, we had to be patient in order not to run into any car and cause any further trouble than what was already occurring. We kept waiting patiently with some other people and before I knew it, a motorcycle splashed a small pool of water that was infront of us on my brother and I.
OH MY GOD!
I got irritated at that moment and watched the rider park after realizing what he had done. He removed his helmet revealing his attractive appearance and walked towards us. Omg. Why was he coming? I couldn't say anything to him cause I was sure that I'd be very mean to him.
"I'm very sorry... I did not..."
"Oh don't apologize with that british accent of yours." My brother stepped back in surprise at my reply. I know I was like I wasn't going to say anything but no! I already had so many things on my shoulders and this cute guy just decided to do this to us.
"I know you're angry but...."
"I don't know but was I screaming 'I need a shower?'"
"No...that's not it."
"Oh quit that. If I wasn't pleading for a shower then you did it on purpose! I don't know why the whole world and everything is against me but it's cool." I was overreacting but I was furious. I tightened the grip on my brother's hand and we crossed the road leaving the tall young man standing there.
We got into the hospital and began to walk towards my mum's ward. I tried to calm myself and my brother chuckled. "You're so dramatic Teresa."
"So you're taking his side?"
"At least, he apologized. Normally, people just keep driving like it's none of their business."
He had a point.
"I couldn't control myself. I'm already too stressed."
"Mum!" Dan shouted immediately we got into her ward and she laughed.
"You guys are late. Tes?"
I shrugged. "Well, we got distracted by ...." I didn't know how to start explaining "...a little drama. Well, I brought fruits and food."She looked uninterested. "Tes, I know you took your time but the hospital has already fed me."
"Wow." I said with a giggle. "But you can have the fruits. I'd probably eat the food...."
"That's not fair. I'm also hungry." Dan said and we all laughed. Even in moments like this, we could still laugh. Honestly, that was my biggest flex during this hard times.
I sat on one of the chairs but my brother chose to stand beside my mom. As we continued laughing and picking on each other, I shared the fruits and we all ate and continued talking.
The door opened with two doctors and a nurse walking in. I turned excited to see the health professionals that have been caring for my mom. Then, my eyes fell on him. Oh wow.
