Being One with the Peculiars

-

"I see, you came back huh?" Miss Moon asked me while my whole body is quivering and terrified because a huge panther is spitting his saliva on top of me.

"I-I ju-just want to figure something out for me. That's the only reason why I came back here, so please, I am asking you nicely to answer all of my questions."

"Why?" she asked.

"Bakit ka bumalik dito at ano ang gusto mong malaman? At paano ka naman naka-siguradong kami nga ang tamang tao na makaka-sagot ng katanungan mo iha?"

"It's because you once helped my great-great-aunt before."

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"Can you please get Calix away from me? I cannot think and talk straight if he's like this on top of me.

"Calix!" Miss Moon called him out.

Then Calix, in his vicious panther form finally, got away from me.

He went back into his human form as soon as Miss Moon ordered him to change back immediately and get away from me. He walked towards Miss Moon alongside the other kids in the house behind her.

"Now, tell me what is the question you've been meaning to ask me?" She asked me, reminding me about the question that I was supposed to ask her in the beginning.

"it's about what my grandmother told me earlier when we talked during lunch at our house."

"Ano iyon?" tanong ni Moon na tila ay hindi interesado kahit kaunti sa aking maaaring maitanong sa kaniya.

"You knew my great-great-aunt Ilaria, am I right?" I asked.

I finally got her attention for the first time. Her eyes widened when I mentioned Aunt Ilaria's name in front of her, meaning they really must've known each other back then.

That also means that Moon is not that young as she looks like.

"How do you know that name?" she asked.

"Like what I stated earlier. Ilaria's my aunt."

Dahan-dahan siyang bumaba ng hagdanan at nilapitan ako sa aking kinatatayuan. Tinignan niya ako mula ulo hanggang paa tsaka siya tumigil matapos akong maikutan ng isang beses.

She gazed at my eyes. It took Moon a very long time before she continued walking in her pace.

"It doesn't look like you're from the same family tree," she uttered.

"Anong ibig ninyong sabihin?" napikon kong itinanong.

"She had a burning passion in her eyes."

"Pardon me?"

"The two of you are far different from one another. Just a look at you, you're no match from Ilaria. You're like one young girl who wants to escape the real world and get what she wants during her escape. While Ilaria is one amazing person, everything she does has a purpose. She's also not stubborn like you." She replied.
