Section 29

"Preparing for a Bite"

"Haaa..."

What happened? I opened my eyes and suddenly I was awake. I saw myself inside the library of the mansion. But why?

I don't understand why. Is it because of that dream?

My back aches because I slept on the hard cold floor of the library. What even is happening to me it seems like a problem always finds me.

I stood up. I saw the tall wooden dusty bookshelf. It looked familiar.

I realized that it was the same shelf that gave me the creeps when I saw it and caught a feeling like it was calling my name and asking me to come closer.

It feels like it is reeking of secrets that make me want to come closer and unfold every single piece.

I stand quiet, in front of the terrifying and gloomy end of the library where I came face to face with the bookshelf that is picking with my curiosity.

"What did happen in my dreams?"

"Was it even just a simple dream?" I asked.

"Or was it a vision?"

There were questions I want to get answered when I came here but then it looks like the questions I have right now are piling more and more.

What relation do I have with this house that it keeps on looking for me?

I turned my head behind me, walked slowly away.

I unlocked the door. Took a glimpse of the library's corner.

I tried disregarding my thoughts, it's early in the morning, I haven't even eaten yet but these questions are bombarding my brain.

I locked the door and walked my way through the main hall.

"Astrid?"

"M-miss Moon?" I asked.

In a split second, a vision of Moon drowning in water inside a flesh basket looking cage appeared in front of my mind. "is there something wrong?" she asked.

She took a step closer to me.

"N-no, I'm alright Ms. Moon. Thank you for asking." I smiled while answering her.

I tried hiding how tense I was because I don't want her to worry nor know about what's happening to me. I still don't put my trust in her.

She did accept me nicely in the mansion but still, there are things that I feel like she's hiding from me and I don't know what her reasons are.

"Mauuna na po ako, magandang umaga po pala sa inyo Ms. Moon." wika ko.

Yumuko ako at naglakad papunta sa hagdanan. Tumaas na ako pabalik sa aking kwarto. Sumalubong sa akin si Alexis at Lilac na kakalabas lang ng silid namin.

"A-Astrid?"

"Why are you coming from downstairs?" Lilac asked.

"Nothing."

"Did something happen?" Alexis asked. "Why are there marks on your face?" she asked.

I touched my face and realized that she was right. "Nothing, maybe because of the bed last night," I replied.

"Alright then, you should hurry up."

"We need to get going downstairs and meet the others before Moon comes into the rooms." Lilac reminded me.
