Section 31

"At Last"

Aisha called me from a few meters away.

"Hmm?"

I turned her way. "Ai-Aisha?"

"What are you doing here?" 

"I'm looking for everyone. Ms. Moon gave me a list of things that everyone must accomplish while she's away."

"And it is my duty to supervise on her behalf," she replied.

"By the way, why are you here alone?" Aisha asked. 

"A-Astrid?" Josefa and the others called me out of curiosity. 

"What's that?" Aisha asked. "N-nothing, it's nothing. It's been a while since I've talked with the paintings on the wall, we d-decided to catch up on one another." I made a somehow sensible excuse.

"R-really?"

"Is that so." Aisha looked deeply into my eyes. I nodded as I answer back to her question.

"No matter what the case is, you have to do as I ask," she replied. "Come on now, let's go to your lecture room. Once you finish your studies you can do whatever you want." she smiled.

"Okay, thank you." 

I went inside my lecture room and saw Lia waving at me. I smiled at her back and went to an empty seat next to her. 

Everyone was very quiet and focused on what they're doing. "Why were you late?" Lia asked. 

"Is something troubling you?" she asked.

"Wala naman, medyo marami-rami lang talagang tumatakbo sa isipan ko ngayong mga araw." aking tugon. "Ganoon ba?" simpatyua ni Lia sa aking tugon. Tumango ako, sabay ngiti.

"Pero kung may problema ka man o anong intindihin huwag kang mahihiwang lumapit sa akin. Sa aming lahat, tandaan mo hindi ka nag-iisa sa bahay na ito."

"There's us your roommates," she said.

"Thank you, I really appreciate your help as I cope with all of this." I replied.

"Tignan mo nga naman, hindi ba parang ang unfair naman kung magkukwentuhan lamang kayong dalawa habang ang lahat ay abala sa pagsasagot ng mga libro nila?" wika ni Usher.

Napalingon naman kaming dalawa ni Lia sa nakakainis na boses ni Usher na biglaan nalang sumulpot habang nag-uusap kami. "Pa-pasensya na ha, kinakausap ka ba namin?" wika ni Lia.

"I'm sorry, am I being to nosey with your girly things?"

"Hala, pasensya na hindi ko ipag-sasabi kung sino ang mga crush ninyo at kung ano ang nilalaman ng mga puso ninyo." sabay tawa't pag-halingling sa kapwa niya mga lalaki na naka-upo sa likuran.

"What a fucking sexist..." Lia murmured.

Nginitian ko ng peke si Usher at ang mga nakaka-buwiset na lalaking nakapaligid sa kaniya na parang tatawanan lamang ang kung anumang sabihin ni Usher sa kahit na kanino.

"Ehem..." ubo ko. 

"Excuse me, not to burst your bubble but do you want to know a secret about a leader? One man accompanied a lady into the dark forest and found something tragic."

"Shut the fuck up," Usher said.

He threw a book at me gladly Aisha was there. She used her peculiarity and stopped the book from heading at me.
