~~~~••••~~~~••••~~~~
You lazily swung your legs against the lukewarm ocean water, allowing your body to relax within its comforts.
"Hey, (y/n) think fast." You quickly turned around only to be smacked in the face with a plastic bag, feeling it gently stick to your face from how sweaty you were. The quiet giggles of the teen made your own body tense with fear, until they began to apologize for hitting your face. With a gentle smile you moved to unwrap and bring the sandwich to your lips, allowing yourself to indulge in the food that you wished was your daily meal but you knew it was only wishful thinking.
"Slow down (y/n), you might choke." Francine gave a chuckle, watching as you gulped down the food with a nervous smile. You moved to rub your neck, allowing yourself to push back the embarrassment of tears.
"I didn't have breakfast, sorry." You cringed on the inside realizing just how victim you sounded, it was always one of the complaints your mother had. Francine gave you an odd look, much like one your dad used to give you. She gently tossed you another sandwich bag with a playful smile, moving to stand and stretching.
"Well, you eat up. I'm going to check on Cody and dad." She took her leave, walking into the closed off room upon the floating lab. You glanced down at the food and let out a heavy sigh, glancing over at the red boat which you and Cody drove in. Something about this felt so wrong and you had no idea what, you just hoped everything would be okay on this trip.
You let your body lay back against the blanket, feeling the gentle waves glide up along your legs. An odd beep came from above you which caused you to squeak, your body jolted with enough force to splash water against your clothes. Your eyes darted back to the orange and grey metallic dog, who gave you a simple helm tilt.
"S-Servo, Don't scare much like that." You could feel your body relax knowing he wasn't a threat. Your t-shirt and shorts were already drying from the suns warm rays as the metallic dog gave you a sad beep, lowering his helm to show he was sorry. With a gently pat against his muzzle he laid his helm against your lap letting out a few happy beeps, you didn't mind the happy chirps knowing this robotic dog was highly advanced. You let out a hum all of the excitement drifting away from your body, thinking back onto all of your reactions within the last hour. Your eyes closed listening to the gentle waves not realizing the red boat had witnessed all of your mishaps. Servo beeped a few times but your eyes burned from tears that threatened to fall.
"I hope this works out, I just want to graduate and move out." You snuggled the pup closer to your body, trying your best to not break down. The dog let out a confused beep, his green optics glancing up at you with wonder.
"You probably don't understand me but I've been having problems at home, it's just I want to get away from my mom..." you let out a sigh of sadness, chocking back the lump in your throat.
"This is a new start, Griffin Rock. I love it so far, and I just want to be happy. My whole life hasn't been good but I still have a positive outlook on my future, I-I'm just scared I won't be able to handle her abuse for much longer." You moved to hold the pup closer, allowing a few tears to fall down your cheeks. Still not realizing the red boat moving closer, even though it couldn't transform just yet. The tears that fell onto the metallic dog only proved to him just how much you kept bottled up, he wanted to comfort you to show you were important but he couldn't.
Your quiet sobs were interrupted by the lab shaking violently, startling you and Servo to jump feeling the water suddenly choke you. Within seconds you were clenching onto Servo for dear life, trying to stay afloat in the large waves of ocean water. The metallic dog let out desperate beeps trying to keep you and him afloat, without a life jacket swimming in such a large body of water would be pointless.
Each shallowed breathe you took the more you felt the adrenaline rush, kicking your legs to keep your head above the water and unlike Servo you needed to breathe. Within a few second you were already choking against the salty water, not seeing any sign of the floating lab, your desperate cries were drowned out from your gags and coughs. You could feel your scars and cuts burn within the salt water allowing your mind to return to all the pain you've felt throughout you miserable life. You took one last inhale before feeling your body sinking, reaching out to grip gently onto Servos paw but as you did he moved causing you to let go. The image was beautiful, watching as the water flickered along with the suns rays. The calming gentle waves soothed your burning need to breathe, your last breath was mere bubbles floating to the top as your (e/c) eyes finally began to close. A few thoughts ran through your head but the one that stuck out the most was the red firetruck, and the two teens who helped you adjust to your life on Griffin Rock
   The move to Griffin Rock was difficult but well worth it. The school was amazing, everyone was so friendly and always happy; the whole town was a place for you to relax away from home. Francine Greene and Cody Burns were the first to speak to you, even though they were younger their smarts were of greater maturity. The Burns family were very friendly and happy to have you over, of course you ignored their questions of your constant bruises and scars.
"What can I say, I'm pretty energetic. I can hardly control my excitement." Then you'd brush it off with a happy laugh, to hide the growing and desperate need to cry for help.
Cody and Francine loved to show you tricks the rescue robots could do, and they alone were amazing. The one you adored the most was Heatwave something about the robot always intrigued you. Whenever you were at the Burns, the firetruck was always nearby like he was watching over you. You thought it was your hopes for it to be something more, but you really didn't know.
You could feel your body beginning to shut down, you could barely remember what you were thinking about. Then an odd dark blue color began to cloud your vision, barely making out a large hand reaching out for you. All you could hear was your large gasp for air, and your constant coughs to remove the water that had found its way into your lungs.
"(Lass/Lad), are you alright?" You could barely hear the older voice. The only thing you could feel was the warmth of the hand you were on, realizing just how close you were to dying.
"(Y-Y/n)! Oh my-are you okay?!" Francine and Doc Greene's voices soothed your nerves but the warmth that once held you was suddenly not being felt.
Your body on instinct reached out to hold onto the warmth hearing a grunt, but that only caused you to let out another heavy cough. You struggled to open your blood shot eyes, feeling your mind race only knowing what would happen if you didn't calm down.
"I-I-I think I swallowed a fish." You could hear Frankie sigh from somewhere below you, as you tried to crack a joke to keep yourself from breaking down. Your eyes locked with an odd hazy green, causing you to snap your eyes open realizing you were latched against the chassis of another robot. Slowly you glanced around noticing you were hanging off the side of a large white, red and blue ship, which was way larger than the ferry. You could feel your fear disappear, Servo beeping loudly from atop the ship. The larger dark blue robot gave you a side glance before pulling himself back up onto the deck, setting you down gently against the floor. His green orbs went to check your frame before letting out a gruff hum, turning back to the floating lab.
"Big Red, Blip. I got your (lass/lad) on deck, (s/he) looks fine." You could hear Servo whine before you knew what was happening he was already cuddling up against your form, gently lapping at your cheek. The metallic dog wagged his tail, beginning to help lift you from off the ground. Your eyes traced up to the larger blue robot, catching his attention with another cough.
"T-Thank you, um..." you could feel your body tremble, shyly glancing up at the large robotic being who leaned down to gently rub his digit along Servo's back.
"High Tide. And it's alright, anything for a friend of Blip's." You found an odd comfort in High Tide's voice, it quickly caused a deeper blush to form on your cheeks. Until you began to question who he was talking about, but you didn't dwell on it long. Your question was answered by Heatwave and Cody standing a few feet away,
"(Y/n), I'm so glad you're okay." Cody ran over to embrace you in a hug, making you struggle to get air back into your lungs. You hurriedly pat his back not wanting to be rude,
"I nearly drowned, my lungs can't handle y-your grip." In an instant Cody let go, checking you over.
"We should take you to the hospital to get you checked out. I can have Heatwave take us back." He quickly went to tell Frankie about your plan, while you tried to make your way over to the red mech but your one step only caused you to fall forward. The familiar warmth caught you, sending a gentle chill down your spine.
"You fleshies are so clumsy." High Tide's vocals caused you to chuckle, allowing him to lift you and set you within another much smaller hand.
"Thank you for saving me again, High Tide." You gave him a big genuine smile, which he returned with a smaller gentle one.
"We better get going." Another deeper voice caught your attention, glancing up at the firetruck. You began to piece every thing together, realizing just how blind you were to these robots but on the other hand it helped. It made your adoration more intense for the firetruck, even though he was quiet grumpy.
Heatwave didn't say anything the whole trip back, except for the seat being warmer than it was before. Maybe it was his way of trying to comfort you, but you couldn't tell from your anxiety's clouding your mind. Your mother wasn't going to be happy about your hospital visit.
   Ever since then you've been hanging around the Firehouse more than usual, asking and recovering questions from the four large mechs. Usually it was you and Heatwave, only because you felt more comfortable around him. Some days you'd ask to see High Tide, and he and the others would try there best to do just that.
"I can't wait to see High Tide!" You happily brought a hand dramatically down to your chest, happy to see your other favorite mech. Usually you'd see him every week or two weeks but lately your mother has been more strict, maybe it was because it's so close to your last few weeks of school. The familiar large ship came into view, and you could feel your body tense under the amount of adrenaline rushing through your body. Heatwave on the other hand let out a grunt, not impressed with your and Servo's constant movement. Once you pulled up to the side of the ship, you could see the much larger mech looming over the side.
"Ahoy High Tide!" You happily waved up at the mech, trying to keep balanced hanging outside the window. He gave his own gentle wave, allowing his digit to be in your view for you to hug it. He had grown to adore the affection you gave, it always some how brought him delight.
"Hello (y/n), you little pearl." His vocals shook in a more than happy tone. Your heat fluttered at the nickname, it always brought you to your knees. The moment didn't last long as you ran back over to wave goodbye to Heatwave, who was floating beside the ship in his own boat form.
"I'll see you later Heatwave, thank you for the drive here!" And with that he turned to drive off, making sure to keep a close optic on you as you moved away from the edge.
   As much as the mech didn't want to admit it, he felt responsible for your last mishap. If only he had reacted fast enough then maybe you'd be fawning over him rather than High Tide, who he still has a hard time getting along with. Not to mention the conversation you had with yourself, he still wanted to show you that you meant something to him. Heatwave promised that when he comes to pick you up again, he'll definitely ask even if you'll try to change the subject.
The day with High Tide was spent with him telling you stories, being able to make you laugh and open up like no other. Each minute that passed the more you felt you were falling, having the mech swim his way passed your barriers.
"So, how has that there er-school treatin ya?" He looked over at your body cuddled up against Servo, his spark began to thump gently against his chassis trying to hide his emotions. You tried to avoid the question knowing school could've been better if it wasn't for your mothers constant nagging.
"It's going well, how has the Earths ocean been?" You gave a happy hum patting Servo's muzzle, not caring if you were being talkative. The mech gave a long sigh that caused you to stop your movements,
"Actually (y/n), little pearl. I've been meaning to ask ya something." High Tide gave you that look that meant he was being serious. You could feel your body tremble under his gaze, giving a slight nod for him to go on.
"Why don't ya show yer colours?" His voice shook against your ear drums, finding his question quite odd. He seemed to notice your slightly head tilt, finding it adorable but still gave a sigh.
"Little pearl, I've been seeing those bruises and cuts. There's obviously something goin on, that yer not telling me." High Tide gently lifted you up and to his faceplates, giving you a stern and serious look. You fiddled under his gaze knowing it was a matter of time before he found out. The silence and tension in the air could kill, and you knew if you didn't speak you'd end up crying.
"W-Well, I'm just a klutz I-I get excited easily. Sorry if I worry you," you gave your best closed eyed laugh, but once you opened your eyes the blue mech still had a steel look in his green optics. He let out a gruff grunt, leaning in closer to you and you could already hear his voice in your head, 'I know when yer lying, little pearl.'
"I-I-I, um. Please don't look at me like that, I-I-" you could feel the lump in your throat choke you, causing a trembled sob to erupt from you. Your hand latched onto his faceplates allowing tears to spill down your cheeks, your hiccups became louder as you were cuddled close to his cheekplating. Time passed with you crying, your sobs broke the mechs spark at how much you kept bottled up.
"Awe, (lass/lad) it's alright. My little pearl, take yer time." High Tide could feel you shake within his hold, for awhile he could feel his spark pulse at how sad you were. He couldn't believe just how simple it was to crack you, something about it mad him angry. Who could possibly break such a lovely soul, they deserved worse than what he wanted to do.
Slowly you pushed away, trying to keep your sniffles to a minimum. Your eyes couldn't find there way to High Tide's, but you still allowing your croaky voice to speak.
"I've been having troubles at home, I just want to graduate and get out of that horrible house..." you snuggled closer to him hoping to hide your fears, to hide all the pain you thought no one would ever see. High Tide gently ran his digit along the small of your back hoping to soothe your hiccups, and within seconds your were taking deep slow breaths.
"(Lass/Lad) I'm sure you'll get what you want, you're such a beauty. And I want what's best for you, you've grown to be everything to me. I am always going to be here for you my little pearl, don't you ever let anyone tell you different." High Tide leaned down to gently place his dermas against your forehead, which brought a small smile on your features.
"And I'll be here for you too (y/n)..." you jumped at the new voice, quickly moving to stare over at the smaller red mech. He had a very sad look on his faceplates but still gave a small smile, all your emotions blossomed at that moment reaching out for Heatwave.
"I didn't know you'd be here so soon, I-I'm sorry you had to see all of that." You could feel him gently rub his thumb digit along your cheek, wiping away the tear stains.
"Ya know that day, when you about drowned, I heard everything you said... and I wanted so desperately to show you the brighter sides of life." He gave you another gentle smile, brushing at your hair. His servo warmed underneath you, your eyes beginning to water again. You snuggled onto his chassis, realizing just how much easier it was to hold the red mech.
"What did I do to deserve you guys, your making me cry!" You let out a happy sob, placing a gentle kiss against Heatwave's faceplates feeling as it gently heat against your lips.
"I'd say me and Big Red would do anything for you little pearl, even though we don't always agree." High Tide shook his helm, patting your hair gently. Heatwave on the other end nodded his helm, holding you closer to his chassis.
"You better get goin (lass/lad). And hows bout after you graduate, I'll take ya on a special trip. Hm?" The larger blue mech moved back giving you his best smile, before you quickly nodded. Heatwave took that as a sign for you both to leave, slowly setting you and Servo within his drivers seat.
The drive back was silent, only due to you sleeping soundly after having cried your eyes out. Heatwave didn't mind your quiet snores, finding them mildly adorable. Every few second he'd feel you twitch, realizing just how sleepy you had been since you'd usually be wide awake talking about your day. He let out a halfhearted sigh, his thoughts getting the best of him even though he could still feel that gentle kiss against his plating.
"Everyday may not be great day for you, but no matter what happens, or who you lose I'll always be here for you (y/n) because I love ya." Heatwave swore he could feel your snuggle closer to his seat, knowing now just how much you meant to him.
