-From your POV-

The end of summer meant it was time to head back to Hogwarts. This would be the beginning of my fifth year and each year, I could feel myself becoming more and more powerful. I started packing my suitcases. An old black leather one that my father gave me held all my school items. My wand, robe, uniform, etc.. The dark purple one that was more modern just had my regular pajamas and everything in it. It sucked not being able to bring my phone or laptop to school but one thing I could have was a record player. I figured out a shrinking spell to make my vinyls and the player small enough to fit into my suitcase without taking up so much room and being heavy. I put my hair brush and my other toiletries. One last thing. I thought to myself. I go to my giant jewelry box and pull out the necklace and the ring. I wore the necklace everyday; it was a golden 'S' charm dangling on a golden chain. The S was my last initial. Y/n Sorcier. Translates directly from French as "Wizard". From what my father tells me, years ago, my grandfather was found out to be a wizard back when he lived in the French countryside so he fled to England to escape religious persecution. He wanted to live under a new alias but couldn't come up with anything more creative than Sorcier. And ever since, we have been the Sorcier family.

The ring however, that was different. It was a little silver serpent ring that wrapped all the way from the base of my ring finger to the knuckle. It was a gift from my father when I was sorted into Slytherin. My dad was a Slytherin and so was my mother. Apparently cockiness and a snarky attitude is genetic. I hated to think that I inherited anything from my mother. She tried to kill my little sister and I when I was younger for her own personal gain. To this day, I have no idea what the gain was because my father won't tell me, but that's not something a mother does. I was raised by my father. He was able to conjur up some spell that would alert him if my mother was within a certain radius of me or my younger sister. Despite my dad being a fantastic father, he was also a powerful wizard. He was a healer for the British military. Seems humble, right? Nobody ever guesses that he was a Slytherin. They have no idea that he's best friends with Lucius Malfoy. Sometime before I was born, they got wrapped up in some scandal trying to change the fate of wars happening in Eastern Asia and almost got stuck in Azkaban. Ever since then, they still communicate and stir up ruckus together, but on a much smaller scale.

I had finished packing all of my stuff and slipped on my uniform, completed with my necklace and the ring. Just then, I heard my dad knocking on my door. "You ready to go?" he asks. I nod my head and zip up both my suitcases. "Very well. Let's go then." I follow him out of my bedroom as he helps me carry one of my suitcases. The ride to the train station didn't feel very long at all. I was talking to my dad about all the spells I had been planning to learn that year and telling him about my Parseltongue studies over the summer. He was very impressed. Very few people could speak Parseltongue. Of course Tom Riddle could. Tom Riddle was my biggest competition by far. My archnemesis. Every class that I did well in, he did well in. When I got invited to join the Slug Club, I was welcomed to my first meeting by Tom. It was always a competition of some type between us. He made my blood boil because he had to be the Slytherin heir who spoke Parseltongue. While I couldn't control the heir part, I could learn Parseltongue. So of course, I started learning it. We pulled into the train station and my dad got out of the car to help me carry my bags out and tell me goodbye. He gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek and I made my way to platform 9  3/4.

I started loading my bags into the overhead of the train. Before I tucked the brief case away, I pulled out my robe, wand, and a book I had taken from my father's study without him knowing. I slid the wand into my boot and put my robe on and sat down in one of the seats, getting ready to get cozy and read "Dark Charms of The Mind". Right before I opened it, three of my closest friends showed up. Aria, Victoria, and Cierra. Aria was in Slytherin with me. We've been friends since our very first year and have been basically inseparable since. She had long brunette hair that was really straight and light brown skin with really dark brown eyes. Her mom was from Leeds and was a witch who went to Hogwarts (she was a Slytherin as well) and her dad was a Palestinian doctor. They met when her mom had taken her friend to the hospital or something like that. She came in and hugged me before sitting next to me. Cierra and Victoria were in Ravenclaw. Cierra had very curly dark hair that was gorgeous. Even I envied her hair. It was just past her shoulders. She had dark skin that was such a gorgeous shade and deep brown eyes. She was a Mudblood but nobody knew because she was so incredibly smart and had a very witty sense of humor, hence why she got along with Aria and I so well. Victoria had auburn hair that she always kept braided down her back. She had green eyes and was very smart too. She often tried to make Aria and I think before starting a scheme, meaning we sometimes locked horns. But nonetheless, she was still part of the quad. We all sat down and took to our own activities. Cierra and Victoria quizzing each other on charms, Aria doing her nails, and I began reading my book.

I had gotten about 20 pages in when Aria looked over at me and noticed what I was reading. "Dark charms?" she asks with a grin.

"What else would I be interested in?" I joke.

"So is it true that you've been studying Parseltongue?" she lowers her head and whispers to me. I lean toward her and cup my hand so I am now whispering into her ear so nobody else can hear, or see, what I'm saying.

"Yes, this has to be the year I one up that stupid idiot Riddle." I tell her. She starts giggling and then leans back so now she's the one whispering.

"I swear boys have such a huge ego that it gets in the way of doing anything right. Remember last year when he was supposed to be guarding the restricted section in the library and we stole all the books about potions and nobody ever found out?" we both started giggling. I sit back in my chair and shrug.

"Well, you know what they say. If you want a job done right never ask a man to do it." I smile before looking back down at my book and Aria laughs before going back to filing her nails.
