-From your POV-
Today was the first day of classes so I started making my way to Dumbledore's class. In my eyes, Dumbledore was just a loopy old man. He had a weird tendency to organize everyone based on alphabetical order. Which was fine last year because I sat next to an 8th year named Tanya Rich. But since she's gone now, it meant I had to sit next to him. When I found this out, I rolled my eyes and made my way over to the seat. He was already sitting down, leaning back in his chair with his arm crossed. Not smiling, as usual. I sit down in the chair next to him and set my books on the table before resting my head in my hand and sighing. "You look so happy to sit with me." he says.
"There's nowhere else I'd rather be!" I say sarcastically. I let out a heavy sigh again and he just yawns. The rest of the class goes by normally and then we get up to leave. I grab my stack of books and start putting them into my bag before Tom grabs the book. He reads the cover "Dark Charms huh?" he asks.
"Give it back moron." I reach my arm out to grab it back but it puts it above his head. "You're a tall idiot I hope you know that." I say looking at him while zipping up my bag up.
"I'll give it back to you if you let me borrow it." he says.
"Why would you want to borrow it?" I ask him. He scoffs and his eyes widen.
"I thought you were supposed to be smart? I always read dark magic books." he explains. I sigh again.
"Fine. I don't care but I have to finish it first and you have to be careful with it. It's my dads." he nods and then hands me back the book. I snatch it from him and stuff it into my bag before storming out.
The rest of the day goes by normal. Later that day, me and all three of my friends found ourselves sitting at a table in the Great Hall. We were all just chatting and talking about how our first day of classes went and how our dorms were, stuff like that and then Cierra nudges me under the table with her foot. "Don't look now but Riddle is hardcore eyeing you right now." she says in a low voice as she raises her eyebrows. I roll my eyes.
"I'm hot. What can I say?" I joke and all of us starting laughing.
"C'mon we all know that Y/n hates men. The amount of times she's been propositioned in five years here and every single time she has said no." Victoria chimes in using a low voice too. I nod.
"That's true! There was Edward, Jonathan, Fred," I start counting them out on my fingers." But it's not that I hate men. I just know that I don't need one. Plus, I want to become a mastermind, not a misses." I tell them.
"The boys here are dumb anyways." Aria adds in.
"Exactly. Whenever I do decided to get a boy-toy, he's going to be my right-hand. There's a reason Bonnie's name came first in Bonnie and Clyde." we all started laughing and picked back up on our earlier topics while doing homework.
About forty minutes had passed. I had finished my last bit of work before everyone else because I happen to write faster. I stretched out my arms and looked around the room to see who all was in there. At the table directly across the room from us, Tom sat with some of the other Slytherin boys. He was sitting at the head of the table, in the chair leaned back as if he was sitting on the royal throne. Draco and Alex were both sitting at the table, talking to each other and then two Slytherin girls were sitting there talking to Tom. It is very clear that he isn't listening because he has his normal emotionless expression and is looking dead at me. I roll my eyes at him and turn back around. "Still staring??" Cierra asks after noticing the eye contact. I nod my head.
"Maybe you should turn Riddle into your boy-toy." Aria suggests. I shake my head.
"No, he'd turn on me and try to kill me in my sleep or something out of pure jealousy." I shrug.
"I don't know, he's pretty smart. He could be a good accessory." Victoria chimes in.
"Especially for Parseltongue." Aria whispers to me as she nudges me in the side.
"Especially for what?!" Victoria asks.
"For nothing." I say kicking Aria under the table.
"Y/n Sorcier, are you learning Parseltongue?" she whispers across the table. I shrug.
"Maybe I am, maybe I'm not." I reply.
"Why would you do that?! Are you insane?" she asks again.
"Because, I came here for power. How many times am I going to have to explain that today??" I ask throwing my hands in the air.
"You are going to get in some deep trouble." Victoria says shaking her head.
"And if I do, you can cut my tongue off. Deal?" I stick my hand out across the table, offering her a handshake. Cierra and Aria both laugh and just shake their heads. Victoria rolls her eyes and then goes back to her work. I look around and notice that they're going to be working for quite some time longer, so I tell them that I'd catch them later. I grab my bag and head off down the corridors to the Slytherin common room.
I'm halfway down one of the main corridors before I hear footsteps coming from behind me. I stop in my place and freeze. "Let me guess, it's either Draco or Riddle." I turn around and sure enough I was right. It was Tom standing in the corridor with his hands in his pockets. He walks to catch up to me and we're now face to face. "Want an autograph?"I joke. He gives a fake smile.
"No, just the book." he says.
"I'm not done reading it yet, calm down Riddle." I tell him. He rolls his eyes and starts to get slightly annoyed.
"Then hurry up and finish it." I feel my face scrunch up.
"Who are you bossing around?? I'll finish my book when I want to. I don't even have to give it to you if I don't want to when you think about it." I turn around and start walking and he quickly catches up, now walking beside me.
"Are you serious??" he asks me.
"As serious as you." I tell him. He grabs my arm and turns me toward him.
"Y/n, give me the book!" his voice slightly raised.
"One, let go of my arm. Two, why should I?" I ask him. He looks at his hand and lets go of my arm. He sighs and shakes his head.
"I'll let you have all the access you want to the restricted areas of the library." he offers.
"Nope. Not interested, read through the entire section last year." I start walking again. He catches up once more.
"Fine! What do you want??" I stop walking for a minute this time and think it over really quick and then it hits me.
"Parseltongue. Help me study it and I will give you the book." He scoffs and rolls his eyes.
"You're not serious." he says annoyed.
"Yes, I am actually. I studied it over the summer but I need someone to practice with. Nobody else here speaks it and I don't want any of the professors losing their heads over me studying it." I explain to him. His eyes widen.
"So you're trying to tell me that you studied Parseltongue all summer??" he asks surprised. I nod my head yes.
"You do realize I'm smarter than you, right?" I say. I see him look at the ground and then to me.
"Fine. I will help you and you will give me the book. In fact, next time you're home, bring more back." he says.
"Fine bossy." I say to him. I stick my hand out and he shakes it. "When do you want to start?" I ask him. He thinks about it for a second.
"Are you free right now?" he asks.
"I mean I was going to go read but I can do that later tonight." I tell him.
"We're starting right now then. Follow me." He starts walking down the corridor and I just shrug and start following. Where in the world are you taking me, Tom Riddle?
