-From your POV-
I was writing in my diary while anxiously watching the clock. Tom should be here by now. I was so distracted at one point that I just sighed in frustration and shut my diary and put it under my pillow. Tom was never late to anything; he was known to be so punctual, so him being thirty minutes late was worrying. What makes it even worse is I have no idea if he has any enemies; many people were scared of him and because of that, they often avoided him at all costs. People who were scared of you weren't exactly the type to come after you.
I waited another ten minutes and then got too anxious. I got up and threw my robe on, covering my shirt and pajama pants and put on shoes. I tucked my wand into my pocket and stealthily made my way out of the room and into the corridors. I had no idea where he was, but I was determined to find him. I started by going to the library, where he often would get so fixated on his reading that he lost track of time, but he wasn't there. I then checked down a couple different corridors and then made my way to the Slytherin common room. I opened the door quietly and looked around, but didn't see him. I was so distracted looking for his tall and dark figure that I was taken aback when I was startled by Draco and Alex talking. "Y/n, looking for someone?" Draco asks me. Shocked, I turn to him and let my guard down realizing it's just them.
"Maybe." I say.
"We know about you and Tom." Alex says. "It's a long story, but we know." he says. I feel my face starting to turn red and hot at Alex's remarks.
"We know that's who you're looking for, but we haven't seen him." Draco chimes in.
"He was supposed to do something over 40 minutes ago and he hasn't showed." I say in a calm tone.
"That's not like him at all." Alex says in a slightly concerned tone. I nod my head with wide eyes.
" Exactly, I'm worried something may have happened to him. That's why I'm looking for him now."
"Well, we should help you." Alex offers. I lightly start shaking my head.
"Oh, no no I can't ask you to do that." I assure him.
"You weren't asking. Tom is our friend, whether he wants to admit that or not, and 3 brains do more work than 1." Draco pipes up.
"If you're working with us, there's only 2 brains at work." Alex throws in. I chuckle at his response and then hesitantly agree to let them come help me. I start by walking them down the corridor that leads to the secret room. I was considering showing them the room, but I was worried about whether the pros outweighed the cons, so I decided to wait and show them the room as a last resort.
"Do you think this has something to do with the security breech?" Draco asks Alex. I assume Tom had told him and Alex what the emergency prefect meeting was about.
"I dunno. Maybe, but Tom is smart. He's like a... like a fox!" He says. I sigh and turn around to face them.
"Boys, as much as I do love hearing my boyfriend being compared to a literal animal, please focus?" I say as I turn back around.
"Boyfriend?!" Alex asks excitedly as I hear him smack Draco's arm to get his attention. I feel my face go red. Obviously didn't tell them the full extent of our relationship. I just cross my arms and keep walking.
We had done a full circle of the school and ended back at the library. "We've run out of places to look, Y/n." Draco says exhausted. I feel my heart sink and my throat starting to ache.
"Let's just check here one more time. Please." I plead. I was bothered by two main reasons: Tom was missing and I am not the type to plead or beg. Especially to a man. I see Draco turn his head to Alex.
"The door is locked, Y/n." Draco says. I decide to pull out the fake tears again (though this time they were half real). As my eyes begin to become slick and watery, the two boys look at each other and shrug in defeat.
"Have you got a Bobby pin, Y/n?" Alex asks me. I tilt my head slightly in confusion to his question. I reach up and feel around my head, trying I detect any metal pieces that would indicate the presence of one. I found one and pulled it out and passed it to him. He fiddled with it in his hands for a minute and then squatted down so he was eye-level with the keyhole. He slid it in and then jiggled it a few times and then a loud click. My eyes widened as he stood up and handed me back the pin.
"Thank you, Alex." I said graciously. He just gave me a half smirk and then looked down at the ground. Weird. I was the first to step into the library. I slid in through the door and Alex followed behind me. Draco sat at the door to watch and Alex came in to help me look for anything. Alex was very tall, even taller than Tom, so he was looking at the top shelves while I looked at the lower ones. We were looking through one aisle when a loud thud from a few aisles over startled both of us. We stopped in our tracks, hands still on the shelves and just looked at each other. I pulled my wand out and headed to go inspect where the noise came from.
"Y/n, what are you doing??" He whisper-shouted at me.
"Doing what I came here to do you chicken." I tell him. I see him start hesitating whether or not he's going to follow me but before I can watch if he does or not, I turn back around and keep heading to the shelf. I make my way to where the sound came from and was expecting to see a person, but instead saw a book. I felt my brows furrow together as I stuffed my wand back in my pocket and bend down to pick up the book.
INVESTIGATIONS OF DARK MAGIC:
AN OFFICIAL WORK OF THE MINISTRY OF MAGICWhat? Why would a school have this for students? I opened it and started flipping through some of the pages until I got to one section where I saw someone had been underlining and circling different pieces. And then I noticed that a page in it was missing.
"Y/n!" I nearly jumped out of my skin as the book fell from my hands and back to the floor. I look up to see who it was.
"Tom??".
