-From your POV-
13 Years Later
We had spent the week shopping at Diagon Alley for Violet's school supplies; she was now 13 and entering her second year at Hogwarts and was leaving for school in a few days. She had been sorted into Slytherin (real shocker) and was popular, as people recognized the Sorcier surname.
By now, Tom's entire body, with the exception of his face, was pale and covered in small veins. He wore gloves in public so people would not know. I sometimes sat in on his conferences and had grown well acquainted with all of the followers.
Which leads us to the next interesting plot development: The Malfoy's joined.
But no, not just Narcissa and Lucius. Draco as well.
At first, it was very awkward but then at some point we spoke on the side and acknowledged that harboring any ill will at this point was just pointless and immature. And so we moved on and got over it and he became just another member of the Legion.
He did not seem nearly as interested in it as his parents did, however. His parents were at Tom's right hand and were well known Death-eaters. Draco, was not; though it was clear his parents would've liked him to be. They often pushed and encouraged he get involved, and he half-heartedly did sometimes. Tom never admitted it, but I knew he enjoyed the power he held over him. In a way, he lost everything that Tom had won. Tom not only had me, but now the child, the legacy, and the power while Draco was left with nothing but fortune and a well-known family name.
Whenever I wasn't spending time with Violet, Tom, or tending meetings of the Legion, I spent my time in secret studying drexels and dragons still. I had become very proficient and could summon either or with mere charms and demand them with custom spells I made on my own. Sometimes when Tom was away at night tending to whatever business he had and Violet was asleep, I would go outside and summon dragons. I even got proficient enough that I could ride on them and fly around. Crazy, I know.
One dragon in particular had showed me a considerable amount of loyalty; I was not sure where it lived, but it often showed me kindness and acted like a dog, honestly. It would allow me to pet it and try all different kinds of charms and spells on it. It was a massive dragon. It could easily destroy the house in two steps. It was easily 60 feet with dark, rough, scaly skin and yellow eyes. It's tongue was split and it had horns and a long tail and a massive wingspan. It had visited last night while Tom was out and Violet was asleep when I finally decided to name it.
*
"It's about time I name you, I suppose." I said softly as I ran my fingers along it's horns. It obliged and let me continue petting it. "You're going to serve me to great lengths and do wonderful things one day, I just know it. You're loyal and magnificent and you need a name that will become renowned one day. You, will be known as Smaug."
*
As I progressed into the proficiency with dragons and drexels, I learned how to take form as one. Partially, at least. The farthest I ever got was growing horns and spikes on my shoulders that resembled wings as well as yellow eyes and a long split reptile tongue. I was suspicious that Tom was learning how to transform into pure energy or into snake form, and I wanted to be able to do the same, hence why I practiced with dragons so frequently.
I was cleaning up around the house when I noticed Violet had left a bunch of her school supplies out on the kitchen counter. I scoffed and rolled my eyes as I collected them. "THIRTEEN and still can't be bothered to pickup her books." I say to myself. "Violet!" I call out. I waited to hear her footsteps, but nothing. "Violet!!" I shouted out again, but louder this time. Still, no response. I got up and began walking to her room.
"Violet, you have got to stop leaving your books around. You leave for Hogwarts in mere da-" I was cut off in my rant as her books fell straight from my hands and scattered across the floor of her bedroom. I ran over and began to pry the scaly beast off of her. Her feet were kicking in struggle and her face was turning a light tinge of blue from being suffocated. I commanded Nagini in Parseltongue and sent her out of the room.
I sat Violet down in a chair and got on one knee so we were leveled. She was shaking and gasping and I began to calm her down. "Vi, what happened???" I ask in shock.
"Mom, I don't know." she chokes out. "I was in here to get something and I don't know where she went, but the next thing I knew she was around my neck and I couldn't breathe." she explains through tears. I grab her hand and rub it to calm her nerves some.
"Sweetie, you ARE the heir to Slytherin. Why didn't you just command her away??" I ask.
"Because I can't!" she cries out.
"Honey, yes you can. Parseltongue is a natural second language to you; all you have to do is focus and dial in, and it comes naturally." I explain. She shakes her head and wipes her eyes.
"No, mom, I physically can't. I tried. But it didn't work." she said. My eyebrows shrugged in confusion.
I cleared my throat as I got an idea. "Okay, repeat this after me." I say calmly. She nods and sniffles and I give a basic command to Nagini in Parseltongue that causes her to climb up the door frame. "Okay, now you repeat it." I say. I watch as she takes a deep breath and presses the tip of her tongue to the roof of her mouth and hisses out. And not only was it wrong, it wasn't even remotely close.
I tried again with at least 5 more demands and she didn't get a single one, and to make it worse nothing of when she said was any of Parseltongue.
I sat back on the floor, my legs propped up and my mouth in my hands as I stared at the floor in shock. "Mom, what's wrong?" she asks. Without even looking up at her, I respond.
"Nothing, sweetie. Just.... shaken up." I lie.
I sit there and continue staring off at the floor as I feel my stomach starting to churn and do backflips as I hit a major realization.
Violet genuinely isn't Tom's daughter.
She's Draco's.
