"You shouldn't be here," Carter warns when my legs take me into the interrogation room. His gaze meets mine in a concerned way. I ignore him, not wanting to hear a word that comes out of his mouth.

I shove myself through the troop of spectators, I get a little disgusted by the smiles decorating their faces.

"Move," I say and stare down at the man who's sitting down beside Carter. He grumps, irritated, but moves away without engaging in a dispute.

"I think we should talk," Carter whispers close to my ear. My body tenses and I lean away from him.

"I'll already say everything I need to Carter, don't bring it up again we're done."

"Just let me explain." He continues and I hold in a sigh.

"I don't want anything from you, Carter. You betrayed me, so now let me go. Go be with your love."

"Gianna..." I glare warningly at him. Praying that he won't make me cause a scene in front of my father and his employees.

My eyes search for Kayns in the other room, he's pretty roughed up. Bruises are noticeable on that polished skin but his eyes are filled with euphoria. He's a maniac, presumably psychotic.

"You find this amusing?" My dad asks as one of his armed men punches Kayn in the abdomen. The slams make my belly tingle with pain, I have to start an inner war with myself to keep my eyes open.

Violence isn't something I'm ever going to be used to, or find pleasure in witnessing. I guess that's what makes me different, from my father's employees. I don't see the point in being five versus one, who's also in handcuffs, incapable of protecting himself.

I know he's a threat to our people, so I can't compromise this scene. I need to shove those feeling aside, stay as monotonous as possible.

"Why don't Gianna join us? Or maybe Stacy?" Kayn says and smiles, blood is dripping down on those teeth, he doesn't seem to notice. My father waves at his men to resume their work.

My father has warned me about this, Kayns slide comment about knowing more than he should. He thinks it a manipulative attempt to get his way.

One man is holding Kayn in a firm grip, the others are hitting him, they don't show the slightest guilt.

"How's that sister of yours?" Kayn says with a forced voice between the blows. It's a bit remarkable, he's bold enough to provoke the man that has captivated him, it also makes him a moron. People don't want to be on my dad's bad side, it usually ends painfully.

I can see how my father freezes, as the words reach his ears. I've never met my father's sister, it's a sensitive topic, his family. I know he has one, even though we don't talk about that. Ever. In this field of work, you have to chop of the connections from the outside world, the ordinary world, it's too risky otherwise. You become a target, the same goes for everyone that's close to you, therefore I've spent most of my life inside the doors of Area 31.

"What are you talking about?" My father asks then gesture the men to stop the abuse. "Who sent you?" He continues as Kayn's dusting off his pants in a relaxed manner, like he couldn't care less. Kayn's fingers go up to his hair as he puts the dark, raffled, mess into place. Everyone around us is keeping quiet, probably as astounded as me, because of his nonchalance.

"I, sent myself as I already told you on several occasions, I come in peace, I just want to explore this so called planet." My father doesn't respond, instead signals the men to follow him outside. Leaving the smirking Kayn by himself in the now, chaotic, room.
