"Devan, please." I try and bargain with my bodyguard. This has been going on for days now, he's a stubborn man.
"I'm under your father's orders, Gianna." His voice is stern sending an aggravated feeling down my neck.
"It's been three days, just let me have a walk outside." It feels like these four walls are shrinking. My body is getting claustrophobic. I need some fresh air the frowsty smell is driving me nuts.
"You need it too." Devan has been stuck outside the door as well. Only allowed to go on short breaks. My father seems to think I'm a master at escaping, truth is, Area 31 needs to step their surveillance game up.
"Sorry, Gianna." I sigh to then throw myself on the tiny mattress on the freezing floor.
Stacys have been released since they needed her assistance with the aliens or androlious as they're called. She was eagerly bouncing out of here after she promised she'd get me out. Guess she forgot about that.
"McQoid wants to make a deal." My ears wakes up. Someone starts to talk outside the cell. Carefully I get myself up. Tiptoeing closer, to slide down, back against the wall beside the door.
"What does he want?" I hear Devan.
"He wants the alien, the one who kidnapped Gianna." The other man informs.
Is this what my father is telling people, so he doesn't have to be ashamed of my actions? He didn't have a problem with humiliating me in front of all the guards three days ago.
My hand goes up to the spot where he'd slapped me, I can still feel the burn.
"Set it up. Just let Mr. Clermont know before you transfer him. We don't need him anymore."
My stomach turns into a massive stone.
"I'm leaving for a second Gianna, don't do anything stupid." I can hear footsteps disappearing down the hall. I need to warn him, Kayn. He needs to give me some answers, after that, he's not my problem.
"How long have you been working for my father?" I let out giving it my last shot at encouraging Devan to let me go.
I get up on my feet and turn to face him through the tiny window placed on the metal door.
"This is my fifth-year miss." His back is turned against me and I'm facing his black blazer. His shoulders are stiff, I just crossed some boundaries.
"And do you approve? Of his work I mean." If he's been around for five years I'm sure he's seen some inhumane things. They all have.
"My opinions doesn't matter." The voice is flat. He's not giving away anything.
"So why don't you let me out? Do you really think I deserve this? I'm not a felon, I did a mistake. They happen. It's called being human."
"Loyalty is everything Gianna, you broke that." With that my hopes of getting out to disappear as the thumps of his steps fill the hall.
Sure loyalty is important but doesn't morals come before that?
"Fuck!" I yell and slam my fist against the concrete wall. I yelp out in pain as the blood starts to form on my knuckles. A numbing feeling takes over my hand.
"I'm so stupid." I scold myself while grabbing the thin blanket from the bed trying to stop the bleeding. "Don't do anything stupid, Gianna." I imitate Devans' voice. That's the only thing I seem to be doing right.
"Marco." I suddenly hear a voice close to me.
My body twirls around rapidly scanning the room in search of that familiar voice. I shrug my shoulder, must be going insane now.
