"Carter." Me, Stacy, and Arkin let out at the same time. His eyes drift over at Kayns' arm, that's resting around my shoulders, I can detect fury in those green eyes, before I know it, Kayn is tugged against the wall with a loud slam. Carters forearm is aggressively pressed against his throat.
"Stay the fuck away from her, I've told..." Carter shouts, I have to intervene since time is an issue here.
"Carter! Stop!" I hiss as my hands desperately tries to drag him away from Kayn. "We need to go!" My heartbeats are getting quicker by the second.
"You want to repeat history, be my guest." Kayn snickers in the background. "I dare you." He adds.
"Wait, what?" Carter turns around to meet my stressed gaze as his arm is still pushed against Kayn. "You're helping him?"
"I'm..." I attempt to find the words, since I know that Carter isn't really the most understanding person when it comes to my hatred towards my father's work. "I wanna do the right thing." I let out as a breath, avoiding his, presumably, judging expression.
"I suggest you let go of me now, Bailey," Kayn says firmly with a hint of amusement in his voice. Carter gives him a stern look but doesn't let go. "Unless you want me to spill the beans." Kayn's eyebrows go up and down as he gives Carter the widest smile, of all time.
"You need to go, now!" Arkin cries in my ear, I have to put the nosy part of me to snooze. I can ask about that one later.
"We need to go." I cast a glance at Kayn who gives me a nod. "Are you letting us?" I'm scanning Carter closely. He draws the hands up to his blonde hair, ruffles it in an overwhelmed manner, as if he's trying to find a solution to all of this.
"You shouldn't do this Gianna." He says in a defeated tone and grabs my hand. "Stay, with me, I'll cover this stunt up." Carters eyes are lit with desperation and I'm almost falling for it. I know he'd do anything to protect me, but I need to go through with this, for my sanity's sake.
"You know I can't do that." I tug my hand out of his grip and give him a remorseful expression. I can see suffer in those eyes and it breaks me a little, but I can't deal with this right now.
"Sorry, to break this out for you bud," Kayn snickers as he strides forward to step in between me and Carter. "but she does not, love you.".
The room starts to spin a little, what is wrong with this person?
Carter gets a taken aback.
"I'm sorry," I mumble, avoiding his eyes.
"Oh," He lets out an icy laugh, and flames of anger are decorating his eyes. "Don't be." And with that, he walks out of the room.
"Shall we?" Kayn put his hand out in an invitational gesture, I sigh irritated and rushes before him.
"Someone is coming," Arkin warns me and I take a step back, push Kayn down the hall with me to seek cover.
"Oh my god, don't be so rough. I'm a fragile soul." Kayn chuckles but willingly follows my lead. He looks so calm all the time it's so damn frustrating. "I like that you're so bossy."
"Can you maybe, shut the fuck up?" I whisper and wonder if I'll have to go find some duck tape.
Kayn just giggles, is he even able to be serious for two seconds?
"Stacys' out in the SUV, waiting for you."
"Copy that," I whisper, peeking from the corner to see if someone is coming.
