"How could you do that?" I yell as Kayn shuts the door to my room or whatever it is. "You almost killed me!"

"You're so overly dramatic Gianna." His eyes are bloodshot telling me he's not as calm as he pretends to be. "around here it's every man for themselves. So don't give me those eyes."

"You didn't have to do that! There's always an option Kayn!" I fire back.

"Fine." He takes a step towards me with fury in his face. "There was but sadly I prioritize my life above yours." A chuckle escapes my lips. "You need to learn that I don't give two shits about you!"

"Don't even know why I'm surprised." I turn away from him as the lump is forming in my throat.

"Just go." I can't bear to look at him, I don't know him. Even if he wanted to help he can't because if the royals hold on to him. My only hope to ever see my loved one once again is to do what Aurelia suggested. Getting Isaiah on my side.

"I..." He pauses.

"Go," I say one more time even if that's the opposite of what I want to say. Drying the tears away from my cheeks. I can hear him standing up. He doesn't walk right away, he just stands still.

"I wish..."

"Yeah I wish a lot of things too Kayn but that's all they are. Wishes. Not reality. Do me a favor and go back to being their puppet."

He lets out a loud sigh but then he leaves the room.

I don't want it to affect me but it does. He's too afraid to fight. Too afraid to speak his mind. They have nestled themselves so deep in his mind.

My eyes are dry after all the crying but I can't let myself get lost in grief. There's no time, I need to get back to business. I need to stop them, from killing me and from finding out my mother's secrets.

After I find a way to escape, I'll do whatever it takes to find them. We'll get the hell out of their radar and never enter this madness again. I need to do this. For them.

"Isaiah is waiting." The woman leading me down the hall says as we stop outside a large wooden door.

I take a deep breath and stare at the nobs, she moves to the side letting me walk forward.

"Thank you." I give her a small nod she returns the gesture then strolls off. Before I open it up I count to three to cool myself. This will be fine.

My hands turn the nobs and I push the doors open.

"Isaiah?" I announce my arrival as I walk inside the suite-like room.

My eyes search the room for him but he's nowhere to be seen. Instead, I'm met by all the luxury furniture, feels like I've stepped back in time instead of forward. Maybe their technology is more advanced than ours but their style is from way back.

It reminds me of kingdoms in our world, it was a bad place there too.

I walk over to a large desk and my intrigued finger finds the top drawer and slowly I open it up.

A tablet is laying there openly, waiting for my examination. Slowly my fingers run over the screen and it opens. My breath gets caught in my throat.
