Part 22

"No!" I yell at the screen.

I was there I could've stopped it.

I was there.

"Calm down," Kayn says putting a hand on my shoulder. I rapidly turn around and push it away.

"Don't tell me to calm down! My mother was murdered and I was there! I didn't stop it!"

Tears are spilling out of my eyes like waterfalls. There's an intense pain spreading in my chest. Like a million needles stabbing me over and over. I fall to the floor and put pressure on it.

"It's not your fault." Ava is kneeling down beside me. Her words sound clouded. Her hand is stroking my back.

"She needs the pill," Kayn says with a calm voice. Talking about me as if I wasn't even there.

"Are you serious? I need the pill? Is this how your people solve things, a pill that makes you numb." He's insane if he thinks I'm taking that inhuman medicine. "It's easier that way huh? When you murder people, you don't have to take accountability for your actions. I bet that man didn't feel a thing."

"Your mother is already dead, there's no need to shed tears for her." Kayn has the stomach to utter.

I get myself up from the ground and slam my fist against his jaw. "You're disgusting," I say through gritted teeth.

His people did this, they killed my mother.

"You don't mean that." He lets out a chuckle while rubbing his jaw.

"Kayn common stop it." Arkin tries to interfere. It doesn't work on these creatures either way. They are on that pill, they don feel remorse they cant.

"Who was it? On the tape?" I remember Kayn's purpose in this whole thing. He wants to save his brother. For some reason, he cares about that.

"You need to calm down," Kayn says ignoring my question. "You'll pass out."

"Oh, why? Because I'm weak?" I remember every hurtful word he said to me. He's been playing with me all along, it's fun to him. My pain is making him laugh.

"I never intentionally meant to hurt you, Gianna, trust me. You, humans, are just so sensitive, it's hard not too."

"You don't know how it feels like? To mourn?" A cold-hearted laugh escapes. "You probably clapped your hands while the rulers slit your parents throats. Gladly following their every move."

Kayn eyes flicker with anger making me confused. His hands darts to my arms and in a fast move, I'm tucked against the wall.

I'm not scared of him.

"What are you going to do Kayn?" I smile.

His jaw is clenched and it seems like he's debating something inside his head.

Maybe if I'm worth the trouble.

"Just kill me, add another trophy to your collection of souls."

"Hey, let her go." Arkin is trying to get Kayns arms away from me. I'm just leaning against the wall not scared at all.

Slowly he puts me down and I drag in a breath. My fingers are touching my sore skin.

We stand silent, watching each other. Before someone utters a word, Kayn is darting through the door, leaving us behind.

"He just got shot." I let out giving Ava a look.

"Well we don't know much about those species." She murmurs while watching the thin air after him. .
