"If this is true, how do you know he didn't do it?" His eyes are watching me carefully.

"My brother isn't a pleasant person. He would easily kill someone for the thrill but if there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that he would never break the orders from a ruler." He's casual, tracing the fingers around the top of the beer bottle.

"He's all I have left." Kayn looks uncomfortable. "You should know how it feels to lose people around you."

"How come you think you know so much about me?" I ask as I'm getting tired of his remarks about my life.

"I know facts, but I am still eagerly trying to know the real you." He smiles as he's taking another sip of beer.

"Tell me about the necklace," I demand, in return I get a loud sigh from him. Oh, he's annoyed with me? After I betrayed my father to save his ass.

"It comes from Androlix."

My eyes glide to a figure standing two feet away from us, the person is deeply reading a newspaper. Maybe it's the casual black tuxedo that gives him away.

Please, the oldest play in the book. Better get used to this now, running, Area 31 isn't letting this one go without a fight.

"We got company," I say calmly trying to avoid attention. My gaze returns to Kayn, he's tilting his head in my direction, probably clueless to my statement.

I'm a little surprised it took them this long to find us to be honest, Area 31 got eyes everywhere.

"You know him?" Kayn turns around to stare at the newspaperman... I'm pleased there's a big crowd between us and the man, it's more likely he won't hold us under gunpoint thanks to that.

"Stop staring for fuck sake!" I hiss and have to fight the urge to kick him. "We can't let him know we know he's watching us," I explain irritated as my eyes are searching the crowd for Stacy and Arkin.

Where did they go? Maybe Arkin booked them that room...

"He probably knows we know," Kayn says with a smirk returning his gaze to me.

I can tell he finds pleasure in this, but after all, he won't be the one getting the biggest scolding the world has ever witnessed, from Mr. Clermont.

Or I might be banned from Area 31 altogether, I haven't let myself think about the consequences of my actions. It's easier to just act than tackle the problems as they're thrown my way.

"Well, in that case, we pretend we don't know, that he knows, that we know, you follow?" I let the words out slowly with hopes of him understanding the seriousness of all of this.

Although this is not his world or his problems, he must have some gratitude towards me for saving him, right?

"Let's dance babycakes." Kayn replies and I can feel the heat growing on my face as I get annoyed. That seems to be the feeling he brings out in me, annoyance and anger. What a charming prick.

"You are truly stupid Kayn, it's remarkable," I mutter searching for my burner phone with the intent to contact our two, missing, lovebirds.

"Pretty please." He sounds like a little kid.

"I don't dance."

"Same here. We're so much alike, almost soulmates." Kayn smiles mischievously as he stands up from the bar chair to stretch his hand out for me. I stare at it for a brief second before I turn back my eyes to the phone, dancing doesn't fit into the schedule right now.
