Trusting The Treacherous Renegade

Part 34

Miranda cries out as the gun is being fired.

I didn't kill her.

Instead, I shot the guard closest to me, making him fall to the ground within a second. The Androlious are rushing to his side, it's no use, I have a good aim.

I shake off the feeling of guilt. It's clear what Kenji meant with my parents failing with the gene, I'm not as numb as I thought and hoped.

The employees of Area 31 follow my lead and soon the headquarters are transformed into a war zone.

A mix of guns and screams is filling the room as they fight for power.

I spin around, searching for Kenji my most wanted target but he's missing.

Miranda run towards me with the gun pointed at the ground. She looks so out of place, so innocent. The things I just learned about her though aren't the act of an innocent.

"Use it," I yell as I fire against another guard heading my way. As he falls to the ground I reach for his automatic gun and strap it around my shoulder.

I start to fire against them all. Trying to keep control, not wanting to kill an innocent. No one is innocent though.

"We need to go." Miranda is dragging in my arm as I make my way out of the circle.

The men who kept us inside have all turned their attention towards the audience. Buying us time to get out.

"We need to help them." I turn around and face her. Her eyes are huge and filled with fear.

"It's either them or us, get it?" I grab her gun and push it hard against her chest. "Run if you like but I'll stay and fight."

I leave her behind and aim my gun towards the man who's holding Arkin down to the ground.

Without hesitation I shoot him in the back of the head, I'll think about it later. Right now we need to win. We need to take this place back. Or Kenji will destroy us all.

"Great timing G." Arkin looks up at me from the floor and a huge smile is placed on his lips. His dark hair is shockingly intact.

"That stupid smile tells me you and Stace worked things out?" I reach my hand down to help him up. His green eyes are filled with joy and hope.

"Yeah, I've been meaning to tell you all about it but, been kinda busy." He brushes off his jeans while winking at me.

I kneel to grab the guns from the, now dead, guard.

"Here." I hand them to Arkin who gladly tales them.

I can see Stacy making her way towards us, his cheeks and eyes are flushed cause of all the tears.

She collides hard with my body and embraces me in a warm hug. I almost fall backward but manage to steady myself with the help of my hand in the last second.

"Can you get us some cuffs? We need to lock them up." I let out with a stressed tone.

"Got it, boss." Arkin drags Stacy away from me and I make my way up from the floor.

"Love you!" She yells while bouncing away after Arkin.

"Love you too." I throwback before searching for my dad.

I can't see him through the crowd. Kenji might have taken him, of course, this wouldn't be easy. Nothing ever is.

It seems as if the guards of Area 31 have regained their power as they have captured most of the Androlious. The sound of shots being fired is starting to fade.
