One Year Later

Amara's P.O.V

I haven't talked to Brennan in a while. Last time I talked to him was a month ago for this charity event that we both attended. I haven't got back together with Brennan ever since he and Nicole broke up. We both came to New York for both school and work but rarely saw each other.

"You will not believe what just happened," my roommate, Jessica, said as she walked into our dorm room.

"What?" I asked her.

"I just saw two girl fighting at the entrance. It was so hilarious but annoying cause I had to take the back entrance," Jessica told me.

"That must suck," I chuckled.

I heard my phone buzz making me look down at it. I saw that it was Brennan.

We need to meet up for dinner. I have something to tell you.

I stared at my phone in confusion. Brennan checked up on me once in a while but this seemed much more serious.

What time and where do you wanna meet up?

Come to my apartment at 5. I'll send a car for you.

Tell them to park at the visitor parking lot.

"Is that Brennan?" Jessica asked me.

"Uh yeah. He's just checking up on me," I tell her.

"I'm sure he is," Jessica winked. I looked at her confused.

"What do you mean?"

"Come on, Amara. Brennan has a thing for you," Jessica told me.

"Not likely. He had some flings according to E! news," I explained.

"Uh huh."

I ignored her before going back to my homework. Once it turned to four-thirty, I changed into something nice. I headed over to the visitor's parking lot where I saw Brennan's assistant, Janice, standing near a car.

"Hey, Janice! How are you?" I asked her.

"I'm doing great. How are you?" Janice asked me.

"Great."

"Brennan really needs to talk to you so let's get in the car."

Once we got to Brennan's apartment complex, Janice walked me up to his penthouse. I saw Brennan standing by the window staring out at the view. I did have to admit, Brennan did sure pick a good place with a good view.

"Brennan. Amara is here," Janice told him. Brennan turned around to look at me.

"Hello, Amara. It's nice to see you again. Do you want to have some dinner right now?" Brennan asked.

"Sure. Janice, will you be joining us?" I asked her.

"I'd love to but unfortunately, I am needed elsewhere. Brennan, I am taking off now. Everything is set for tomorrow by the way," Janice tells him.

"Thank you, Janice. Tell Quinn I said hi," Brennan told her.

"I will," Janice told him before walking out of his apartment.

"What's going on, Brennan? Normally I see you during events," I tell him.

"Why don't we sit down and have some dinner first?"

"Oh alright."

I sat across from Brennan at his dining table. To my surprise, Brennan cooked a well made dinner.

"How's school so far, Amara?" Brennan asked me.

"It's good. I'm just doing my basic classes right now."

"That's good. How is your roommate of yours?"

"Jessica's doing great."

"Have you been in touch with Chris lately?"

"Yeah. Chris and her band had just gotten a record deal. Some producer heard her and her band playing and signed her on."

"That's amazing! Send her my congratulations for me," Brennan said.

"I will."

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Brennan asked me.

"Now you sound like my family," I point out.

"I'm just asking so we don't have to face another drama scandal like before," Brennan tells me.

"What do you mean face another drama scandal?" I asked him. Brennan let out another sigh.

"Amara, I have to ask you a big favor," Brennan started.

"What kind of a big favor?" I asked him.

"My parents have set me up with another arranged marriage but it's not with you," Brennan told me.

"What's the favor?" I asked him.

"I need you to be my fiancee again to get me out of this marriage."
