Amara's P.O.V

After working a shift at work, I flopped down onto my bed. It wasn't too stressful but it was busy tonight. I heard my stomach grumble making me groan.

"I know I'm hungry," I said to myself.

I heard my phone go off making me pick it up. I saw that it was Brennan calling me, making me smile.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey. How was your shift at work?"

"The usual. What's up?" I asked.

"Well I was wondering if you want to have some dinner with me? I can order pizza and we can stay in our pajamas," Brennan offered.

"Pizza sounds great right now. I'll meet you at your house in a bit," I tell him.

"Actually, let me pick you up. It's dark out already," Brennan pointed out.

"Okay! I'll see you soon."

"I'll see you soon."

I quickly changed into my pajamas and let my phone charge for a bit. Jessica walked inside with her backpack before putting it on the floor next to her desk.

"Bad shift at work today?"

"A little tough. A lady got mad at me for forgetting a lemon in her water that she didn't even ask for," I tell her.

"Yikes."

"And I'm going to Brennan's house for a movie and pizza night," I tell her.

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"How's that going along?" Jessica asked.

"We're great. We're still getting to know each other and it's nice not being pressured into getting married," I tell her.

"I still find it crazy how you were in an arranged marriage. That's kinda creepy," Jessica said.

"I agree but I had to do whatever my parents told me to do."

"Now you're free from their restraints," Jessica joked.

I got a text from Brennan letting me know that he was here. I put on my sweater before heading off downstairs. I spotted Brennan's car and quickly got inside.

"You look comfy," Brennan told me.

"I can't remember the last time I saw you in clothes other than a suit," I joked. Brennan smiled at me before leaning to give me a quick kiss.

"Shall we have our pizza and movie night, m'lady?" Brennan asked.

"We shall," I smiled.

Once we got to Brennan's house, I walked inside and sat on the couch with Brennan. He sat next to me before kissing my cheek.

"So how was work today?" Brennan asked me.

"You already asked me this," I chuckled.

"I know but I want to hear the full story," Brennan explained.

"There's not much to tell."

"Come on. Not one interesting thing happened?"

"Well I got a big tip today which was impressive," I tell him.

I heard the doorbell ring making me look over. Brennan got up before grabbing his wallet. I heard some taking before the door closed. I saw Brennan walk back with the pizza and some wings.

"I'm so starving right now," I tell him.

"Well I shouldn't let you wait anymore now, should I?" Brennan smiled.

Brennan turned on his TV before switching to Netflix. I grabbed a couple slices and wings before starting to eat.

"Any movie in particular?" Brennan asked me.

"I have never seen Scott Pilgrim," I admitted to him.

"How can you not have seen Scott Pilgrim?!" Brennan asked me.

"I never got to it really," I explain.

"Well now we have to watch it," Brennan told me. I chuckled a little before nodding in agreement.

After the movie, I couldn't help but talk about it.

"But like Scott shouldn't have cheated on Knives. She was a sweet girl," I poured. Brennan chuckled at my mini rant.

"It's okay, Amara. It's just a movie," Brennan assured to me.

"I know. I know," I said, calming down a little.

"Should we play another one?" Brennan asked me.

My phone started to ring making me look over at it. I saw that it was my mom calling me.

"You pick. I'll be right back," I tell him before getting up. I took my phone and walked over to the side.

"Hey mom. What's up?" I asked.

"Is this Amara Lowell?" I heard an unfamiliar voice ask.

"Yes this is she," I hesitatingly spoke.

"It is my deepest regards and my apologies to tell you that both your mother and father has passed away," the voice said. I dropped my phone before letting out a scream.

Brennan rushed over before hold me into his arms. He quickly bent down to pick up the phone to talk. I cried into his arms as he comforted me

"This is Brennan Kindell. What happened?" I couldn't hear much over the sounds of my crying.

"Amara!" I looked up to see Brennan looking down at me.

"I... lost... them," I hiccuped.

"I'm here for you. Whenever you're ready to talk or if you need something, I'm here for you," Brennan told me. I nodded before hugging him a little more tightly.
