Amara's P.O.V

"What do you mean by being your fiancee again?" I questioned.

"Amara, I cannot go through another arrange marriage. If I told them that I was engaged to you again, they could stop this second arranged marriage from happening."

"What is it with your parents and arrange marriages?" I asked.

"I honestly don't know."

"Brennan, I don't know about this," I tell him.

"I understand. It was worth a shot to ask," Brennan told me. I felt slightly bad but I also know that Brennan would be upset throughout his whole relationship.

"What if... we weren't engaged but dating? Slowly start it off?" I asked him.

"You'll agree with this?" Brennan asked me.

"I don't want you to go through another arranged marriage after what happened to us," I explained.

"Thank you, Amara."

"But we would need to go over some ground rules and some basics."

"Agreed."

"I say that we started dating after seeing each other at the first charity event we were at together when we moved to New York. We talked before the charity and we decided to date again."

"Alright. We wanted to keep it a secret because after all the pressure we've been through before didn't work out for us," Brennan continued.

"How are we going to tell our parents that we're dating?" I asked him.

"We'll invite them over to New York for a dinner reunion. It'll be alright," Brennan explained to me.

"Okay."

"But this time we can't tell anyone that this relationship is fake."

"Not even Chris?"

"No. You can't tell Chris," Brennan told me.

"But I tell Chris everything," I frowned.

"I know you do but this time, you can't. I'm sorry, Amara. I know how much you love Chris and want to tell her everything."

"I'd be betraying her if I don't say anything," I poured.

"I'm sorry Amara. Look, for anything, she can yell at me later on. But for now, we need to keep this a secret between you and me. Okay?"

"Okay."

"Now, let's talk about your payment," Brennan told me.

"Oh I don't really need much. My parents and grandparents put in a college fund for me so I'm set. Plus I have a job as a waitress to earn some extra cash for  leisure time," I explained.

"Then how about this. If there's anything you need from me. Anything. A car, a shopping spree, anything, I'll get it for you?" Brennan said.

"That sounds fair and fine," I agreed.

"Alright then. I guess we have a deal?" Brennan asked me.

"We have a deal," I nodded.
