I got this theory from a tiktoker called that_dam_fandom. They post Percy Jackson memes and references.
I have confirmed my theory to why Jason dies in ToA.
In the HoO series the prophecy said "to storm of fire the storm MUST fall". So either Jason or Leo. Leo did not stay dead.
In the Pjo series, Chiron said that working your way around prophecy or preventing it was not a good option.
The prophecy on the burning maze said that either Jason or Piper would die.
Maybe the one in HoO wasn't completely understood and it was tied back to the one on ToA.
So it was like, a small sequel to the prophecy in HoO.
