"Let me in. Let me in."
The inventor's son was banging on the door, his fist making vibrations through the whole house. Grace didn't even have time to think as she ran back up the stairs. She was too nervous. How was she going to make him believe they had gone?
"I won't say it again, lady, let me in or I'll bash this door in myself." A louder bang came from the door, and a little startled scream obviously from Chelsea.
"Give me a second!" Grace stumbled over to the door and fiddled with the countless locks on her door, trying to buy herself time. She could be clever about it and try to hide the fact Andy and Edward went back to the mansion, when really they didn't. He would probably decide he'd figured her out and go to the mansion to look for them.
The man roared from outside and the door shuddered, along with Grace - who was now on the last lock.
She opened the door just a crack, the chain stopping it from opening any more. She peered out and immediately got the chills as the inventor's son eyed her back with a look of death. Grace jumped back as his hand grasped the door and forced it open, snapping the chain into bits.
"Where are they?" He growled, stepping inside. He seemed to tower over Grace, though he wasn't exactly huge.
"I - um..." Grace said, being forced to go backwards into the room. She glanced out the window toward where the mansion stood tall. Was it working? Had he caught on?
"Tell me where they are and don't - for your own sake - LIE."
She shivered and clenched her fist before regaining a bit of her confidence. She pushed him back and he almost ran into Chelsea who had followed behind him.
"Get out of here, you'll just get in the way!" The man grumbled to Chelsea, surprisingly not getting angry at the unexpected shove.
Chelsea frowned but didn't dare argue. She lowered her head and moped outside.
"Now," he turned back around. "They're in the basement, aren't they?"
"W-What?!" Grace's heart leapt out of her chest. How did he figure it out?
"Oh- they are? I didn't really expect you to be that stupid." He laughed, making Grace want to punch him in the face. He had a very punchable face.
He smirked and made his way down the corridor, looking for the stairs.
"I know you're in here." He called out. He was going to find them, and there was nothing she could do about it.

PS, I saw Edward Scissorhands at the movies - they're replaying old movies - so I might update a bit more with that inspiration. 😁
