Chapter 28

Seven

"What exactly happened in the underworld before you came here?"

Tres stopped from walking and caught my eyes. She was oblivious earlier but I managed to get her attention.

"I thought Aunt Siera told you about the news?" She said and started walking again.

We are currently here in the city for her mission. We've been walking endlessly because the convicted mortal is jumping from one place to another. He's a serial killer who's about to die this day, and Tres is responsible for him.

"She just told me about Lilith and her comeback. And also her plan for his son."

"Well, the rumor spreads like a wildfire after a spokesperson from the council announced about Lilith coming back from the darkest cave. And guess what?"

"What?"

"Aisthus was delighted," she answered.

Natigil ako sa paglalakad at tiningnan ng mabuti si Tres. What does she mean by that? Aisthus always wanted a higher position in the council. And Lilith's comeback will surely hinder his plan. Why would he be delighted from that news? That would be absurd.

Something's fishy about this.

"Oh! We're here," Tres abruptly said and looked at the surroundings.

We're beside a busy street and surrounded by enormous buildings. Everything seems normal here. I don't find any inhumane activities.

"Where's the convicted mortal?" I asked her.

She suddenly looked at the rooftop of a two storey building across the street. The building is actually a café where mortals drink coffee and other things.

"He'll be up there?"

She nodded and giggled. The mortal might kidnap someone inside the store but he couldn't get out so he will take an innocent mortal for his hostage. This plan will be one of those dumbest plans that mortals often used. Funny how they wanted justice for everything but their morals are not even well inputted in their minds. Bunch of hypocrites.

"How long are we gonna wait here?" I asked again and leaned on the wall behind us.

The sun is setting high above us and I got sweats dripping over my temple. I wasn't able to bring a handkerchief because I thought we'll be fast.

"Just wait a little longer, you're such an impatient demon," she hissed and glared at me.

We waited for another hour until the sun sets. I just stared at the people who are passing by while my mind is pretty occupied by Angelus. We haven't talked yet about that night and I kinda get awkward feelings now.

I wonder if she feels the same too?

I mean, what happened between us is purely an accident. Because technically, I was drunk and was not in my mind that time. Mortals might consider that as cheezy or what they call it clichés, but for us, it's just nothing. I will consider those actions as one of my stupidity.

"He's already inside," Tres said.

We waited for another minutes until a scream got my attention. It came from the café where the convicted mortal is doing his insidious acts. After the clamorous scream, a loud gunshot was heard followed by horrific cryings.

His heinous doings will surely put a traumatic experience among the unfortunate souls inside.

The passers were all startled and they all abruptly run away from the vicinity. I stood up quitely while I patiently waited for the convicted mortal's next plan.
