~Super Contest Hall Battle Arena~
Diamond sat in the middle of Fantina and Platinum at the judge's table. They were off to the side, a few feet in front of where Isaiah, Alisha, and Pearl sat.
"Gardevoir, Moonblast!" The trainer dressed in a sky blue glittered ballroom gown shouted.
"My beautiful Lapras, use Freeze-Dry!" The elder gentleman fiddled with his gray mustache. His burgundy suit and tie was as stiff as an Onix.
The special attacks canceled each other out, resulting in dozens of brightly colored pink flurries of snow falling throughout the hall. Alisha's eyes lit up with excitement.
The big-screen deducted points from both trainers. Pokémon Contests weren't Isaiah's cup of tea. He enjoyed the battles at the end but that's as far as he went to watch them. Lily would talk about her favorite coordinators during some of Alder's lectures. He would zone out from the conversation as well as the lecture and just let his mind wander.
"Magnifique!" Fantina exclaimed, applauding at the sight.
Alisha grabbed his arm sleeve, "it's coming down to the wire! I-I don't know who to root for."
"I didn't know you were into contests?" Isaiah asked.
"No, that's my sister's thing. I just enjoy the battles," she replied.
Isaiah gazed at her, "y-yeah," was all he could say in response. A tap on his shoulder interrupted him, Pearl leaned in closer to his ear.
Pearl covered his mouth with his hand, "ran into Team Xûl lately?" Isaiah looked around, cautious of anyone who could be eavesdropping. He brought Pearl up to speed on their encounter with them in Wayward Cave. Pearl leaned back, rubbing his chin in thought.
"We've been here for a few days now and nothing has happened. We even patrolled at night, still nothing." Pearl folded his arms. "I know something is going to happen, I can almost feel it—"
Everything went dark and shouts erupted all around, Isaiah couldn't see his arm in front of him. The microphone made a screeching noise that echoed throughout the arena.
"Don't panic, we'll have everything under control momentarily—" Fantina was cut off by the sudden return of lights.
On the battlefield, stood over a dozen Team Xûl members. All covering their faces with half-masks and hoods. Isaiah spotted Scarlet standing front and center, she wasn't wearing her hood at all.
She had the same loose red-colored ponytail from Oreburgh City. Her smug expression and taunting laugh burned into his mind. Isaiah had hoped Scarlet was the one in Wayward Cave so he could settle the score. This time, he might be able to get his chance.
The one who battled Pearl back in Orebugh, Vraxx, held a Pokéball in his right hand. He showed all of his teeth, resembling a Mightyena baring its fangs. His messy, long green hair fell over his face nearly covering his eyes. Isaiah recalled him having a Rhyperior at his command. Which if provoked, could mean utter destruction.
