~Veilstone City~

Isaiah and Alisha spent the morning shopping in the Veilstone City Department store, restocking on healing and other items they may need. Isaiah bought a few Tms to shake up his Pokémon's moves especially for the upcoming gym battle with Maylene. She already had high hopes for a great battle, so he planned on giving her that and then some.

Togepi roamed free from its pokéball in Alisha's arms. She purchased a soothe bell and Togepi has been holding on to it ever since. The soft chiming of the bell helped calm Togepi in crowded areas where it would cry. Alisha and Togepi's friendship was growing at a fast rate, which is what Alisha hoped for.

The automated door closed behind them as they left the department store. Over to the left, a crowd began to gather by the dozen in front of the large building at the highest point in the city. It had two huge satellites on both sides, a gigantic dome for a roof, and the letters 'VC'  as the centerpiece.

"Y-you think he's left yet?" The little boy asked through his exhaustion. His running mate slowed down, allowing him to catch up.

"No, but at this rate, we'll miss him!" She grabbed at his arm, pulling him down the stairs. Isaiah and Alisha exchanged looked before following the kids with their eyes. Indeed, they too headed towards the crowd.

'Togepi!'

Alisha looked down at her Pokémon, "I think we should go see what's going on too. Isaiah?"

Isaiah's curiosity got the better of him, "definitely, this guy is getting a lot of attention over there."

They attached themselves to a small group of trainers close to their age, as they joined in with everyone else.

There stood a purple-haired man with a scowl on his face that seemed to come naturally. He wore a purple and indigo colored jacket with a navy blue undershirt. His dark gray pants along with his shoes that matched the color of his jacket complimented his attire. The man looked out into the crowd, squinting his eyes and rubbing his goatee.

"It seems I can't go anywhere without drawing a crowd," he started. He put both hands in the air to silence the chatter. "I'm flattered you all know me, but—"

"Of course we know who you are!" Someone interjected.

"Yeah! You're Paul, Battle Frontier's newest member!" Another spectator shouted.

"You have never lost a battle as the Battle House's Brain yet!" The trainers erupted in applause with the occasional 'ooo' and 'ahhh'.

'Battle Frontier? He's never lost?' Isaiah thought to himself. He remembered back when Caitlin had babysat him a few times, even though she slept most of the time. Caitlin would rave about her time in Sinnoh as the Battle Castle's leader. Although she's an Unova elite four member, he always liked hearing about her battles in Sinnoh.
