~Canalave City Gym~
Isaiah stood confidently across the battlefield from Byron, the Canalave City gym leader. He spent a full day training with Riley and Mega Lucario on Iron Islands to strengthen the bond between him and his Pokémon.
He felt his Xtranceiver vibrate in his pocket. Isaiah quickly glanced at the goofy picture Alisha took as her contact photo. He ignored the call in order to concentrate on the approaching battle.
The judge took her place in the middle of the arena like usual.
"This battle will be a five versus five. Byron, the gym leader, versus the challenger, Isaiah Wright from Jubilife City."
Byron plunged his shovel down beside him and scowled.
"Another strong trainer challenges my gym." He smirked. "I thought they all would've reached Snowpoint City by now," he said.
"I guess I didn't get the memo," Isaiah replied.
Byron cackled, "with that being said, do you have access to mega evolution?"
Isaiah wasn't caught off guard by this sudden question, he planned to battle Byron and his mega from the beginning. Whether he had the ability for himself or not.
"Yes, yes I do." He hoped Byron didn't see right through his lie. Instead, Byron just cracked his fingers and neck.
"Enough talk then, Magneton, we have a challenger!" Byron tossed the ball into the center of the battlefield and out came his Magneton.

'Magneton(Electric and Steel Type), the magnet Pokémon, and evolved form of Magnemite. This Pokémon is constantly putting out a powerful magnetic force. Most computers go haywire when a Magneton approaches.'
"Field effect, activate!" Byron shouted.
A sandstorm whipped up around the area, much like Roark's gym in Oreburgh. Isaiah grinned and called out his first Pokémon.
