~Fighting Chamber~

Marshal stood by himself in his fighting type styled chamber at the Pokémon Leauge. He was never the one to be lost in thought, but not being able to go home and see his son always bothered him. Fond memories of his son's upbringing played in his head, making him smile greatly. 'Kerchunk'... The sounds of metal clanging invaded his ears.

Marshal snapped back into reality and took in a deep breath before exhaling. A trainer was now making their way through the Pokémon Leauge to challenge him. Ever since his son became of age to become a trainer a few years ago, he waited for the day, Isaiah would oppose him as well. Marshal wanted Isaiah to follow in his footsteps and hopefully, one day defeats him.

His heart raced every time a new challenger entered his chamber. Each one of them could be his own son... He closed his eyes and the platform he stood on started to slowly descend.

The top half of the Poké ball connected with the challenger's bottom half to create the arena. Marshal hesitated before looking a few feet in front of him. He punched the inside of his palm, putting on a smug expression. No matter the opponent, his duties as an Elite 4 remained the same.

"Welcome, challenger. My name is Marshal. I, the number one student of Alder, will test your strength. Prepare yourself! Haaa!"

~Alder's Trainer School~~~

"Aipom, use fake out!" The long-tailed pokémon charged ahead with both arms spread out and lunged in the air off its legs.

"Vine wh-" before the Oddish could react, Aipom connected the fake-out attack. The force was enough to send oddish reeling a few feet. The school girl gritted her teeth.

"What's wrong oddish, attack," she commanded.

"Ah, nicely done Isaiah. Fake-out can only be used on the first turn of battle. A priority move that allows the user to always go first, with a secondary effect of making the opponent flinch," Alder chimed in from the sideline.

Lily glared at Isaiah and Aipom across from her. Aipom bounced left to right, waiting for Isaiah's next command. She then turned her attention to Alder, who held a grin with his arms folded. Lily has trained on this very painted battlefield for a few months now but has yet to beat Aipom.

"Scratch, let's go!" Aipom dashed over towards the opposing pokémon.

'Aiiii-' it started.

Lily squared up, "here it comes." Aipom's attacked landed successfully once again, but just as fast as it connected, Oddish quickly retaliated.

"Quick, Absorb!" Vines sprouted from the top of Oddish's head and they quickly wrapped around Aipom's hand-like tail. They glowed with a bright emerald color absorbing Aipom's energy while replenishing oddish's.
