Isaiah stared at his dad on the screen of his Xtranceiver. He looked at the uncanny resemblance and remembered why he decided to dye his hair white. It seemed to be working nicely; he stopped getting remarks on his appearance.
"I'm pleased to see you made it to Sinnoh safe. How's that Pokémon I gave you?" Marshal asked with a gleam in his eye. Isaiah's eye widened, and he looked away from the camera. He had forgotten its now in the PC with no intention of training it.
"Uh, it's doing fine, dad. No problems at all." Isaiah gave a false smile that surely convinced Marshal. Marshal nodded his head and cleared his throat.
"Your mom is expecting you, Isaiah," he added. Marshal's voice sounded serious.
"Oh, it's funny you say that, because I'm standing right outside of our front door" Isaiah flipped the camera around showing his father.
"Oh, you are?! Well, take care and call me soon as you pick your starter. I would love to see who you chose."
"Will do," Isaiah responded. He ended the video call and eyed the apartment door. He hasn't been to Sinnoh since his last visit five years ago. Isaiah rarely talked to his mom but it was mostly his fault.
He held his fist up at the door, frozen in place. His arm wouldn't move no matter how hard he tried to push through. Locks unraveled, and before he knew it, Isaiah was face to face with his mother.
Her raven-colored hair was held tightly in a bun. She wore an apron over a red-checkered flannel long sleeve shirt. The apron covered her bottoms, but Isaiah knew they were modest blue jeans.
She gasped and covered her mouth, "Isaiah," she mumbled softly.
His heart sank deeper into his chest, "h-hey mama," he replied. Isaiah couldn't find the words say anything else. She pulled him into a warm and loving embrace. Isaiah unhesitatingly returned the favor. He didn't know how much he missed her until they hugged. Isaiah's head rested underneath his mother's chin. They both shared the same skin tone, taking more of a lighter brown from her.
She held him at arm's length with a gleam in her eye, she looked from the bottom and stopped at his hair. Her lips were pressed together with a dissatisfied look on her face.
"Your hair," she started. She ran her fingers through Isaiah's lengthy white hair that came down to his eyebrows. He already knew his mom wasn't going for the hair change. She let him go then put both hands on her hips.
"I can't believe your father let you do this."
"Um...he didn't, but it's alright. I was going back to my natural color soon anyway ma," Isaiah said hastily.
His mom folded her arms, "well don't be a stranger," she said. Isaiah followed his mother into the apartment. There were only a few small changes as far as decorations go.
