Three-Marilyn Monroe's hair?
"Absolutely not." Ara and I are sitting on the balcony as I beg her to come with me to do target shopping.
"Please...for me. Or to get Tide stain cleaner?" I try to bargain in order to get her to come but she just rejects the idea completely.
"If you were a normal person then maybe I would go. But you're a writer, have you seen the amount of time that you spend in the pen section looking for the perfect 0.7 pen?" She had a point there, finding the perfect pen takes me hours and ever since Rhys introduced me to the local school supplies aisle, he knows never to shop with me again. I give up,
"Fine i'll go, all by myself." At the same time I play All By Myself by Celine Dion, trying to get her to feel some sympathy but all she does is slip on some headphones. I scoff and grab the car keys hopping into Dory. Dory was an old Mini Cooper that my parents got me, I named it Dory because it needs to keep on swimming. This was the only car that my parents would buy me and I swear that it runs on my blood, sweat, and tears. I turn the key and hear the oh-so familiar sound of sputtering coming from her. San Francisco by Scott Mackenzie plays softly on Dory's radio as I try to not ram into other cars. I have a very bad experience with driving (mostly caused by listening to danger music on the freeway.) Let's say that driving became a hazard for me after that. I reach the glorious red bullseye after 10 minutes. I've given myself three hours to shop for all three of us. I set the timer ,then walk into the store.
Doing Ara's list wasn't that complicated, I just had to remove some things from that list since I couldn't find them. I was now on Rhy's list which was full of clothes. When I come near the aisle for snacks I start to hear a similar sounding voice.
"Yes. I know mom. I'll come visit later." It was Rhys! That liar, he said that he had work. I go towards him and tap his shoulder he turns over and instantly pales,
"Hey Tal." He waves sheepishly, knowing that he is caught as Talula fumes, punching him on the shoulder.
"Don't Tal me! You told us that you were going to work." He runs his hands through his hair.
"I'm sorry okay? I had work but then my shift got cancelled soo.." I glare at him and turn away. He could have told me. I feel an arm wrap around my shoulder and pull me into his chest.
"Let me go, you piece of fried oreo!" He pouts and I start to feel bad. Should I... fine.
"Ok, I'll forgive you on one condition." His eyes light up and he asks,
"What? I'll do anything."
"You have to come with me for the rest of the shopping trip." I smirk knowing how much he hates shopping with me.
"Fine." He answers with a whine. I nod and look through his list gasping, he had so many hair products on the list.
"Damn Rhys, how many things does it take to keep this monstrosity of your hair. Do I need to call a taskforce to clean it up?" He gasps and pulls me in a headlock.
"Excuse me, my hair looks just as good as Marilyn Monroe's." I raise an eyebrow, questioning his sanity.
