ThirtyThree-lesson in Feminism

"How'd it go?" He asks as I fix my hair in the car mirror. My blonde hair was everywhere after my confrontation. We take a sharp turn to the left just as I was finishing the braid, causing me to lose my focus. I clenched my fists in anger, throwing the hair tie into the abyss of the car.

"It was weird. He was acting very clingy and desperate." I say, looking out the window at the passing buildings.

"It makes sense, everyone wants to work with you. He probably just wanted you to stay with the firm." Rhys says, his fingers drumming to the beat of the music. I was about to agree with him but something was bothering me about what had happened.

If he didn't want me to leave the firm then he could have offered me a job at the London branch. But he didn't, meaning Rhys's reason makes no sense.

"I'm not sure about that, Rhys. He was willing to do anything to keep me with him, not the firm. He was willing to make me an author without looking at my work. Something's wrong." I explain. Suddenly, Rhys slams his foot on the breaks and looks at me, his face clean of any emotions,

"Were you uncomfortable?" He asks firmly, causing me to bite my lip nervously,

"I-I was-um"

"Once again Talulah, Were. You. Uncomfortable?" His tone hardens even more if that was possible. My hands go to my necklace, once again forgetting that I don't have my ring.

"He was pressing himself against me, like not in that way but in another way. So yes." I rush out,not wanting to see his reaction.

"Why didn't you call me?" Rhys asks, starting the car and making a u-turn towards the firm. I quickly rush into action when I realise what he was planning to do. He was going to beat Axel up for making me uncomfortable.

"Rhys, stop! Okay, it's not fine and I know that but I should have told him that I was uncomfortable okay? And on top of that, he asked if you were a toxic boyfriend and if you came in, guns blazing, then you would prove him right." I say, desperately trying to convince him.

Rhys looks at me with sympathy,

"It's never your fault Talulah, he should know not to make advances on you when you feel uncomfortable." He says, starting the car once again and driving to the apartment.

When we step into the apartment he tosses me a roll of packing tape and gestures to all our belongings,

"Shall we get started?" I catch the tape and look at all the boxes that he had bought with wide eyes,

"We haven't even bought the apartment yet."

"Don't worry about that, Archie's management company bought us the apartment. It's really pretty, do you wanna see?" He asks, bringing his phone out.

I unfold one of the boxes and tape the bottom, getting it ready to be filled with various knick knacks,

"Sure." I say, taking the phone from his hands. My mouth fell open at the sheer beauty of the house. It was made out of brick and was tucked into a small pathway, isolated from the city. It looked to be hidden from all things past the 2000's.

"I love it." I breathe out in awe as I hand the phone back to Rhys. We start packing and end up stumbling on lots of undiscovered artifacts from a long time back.

"Look at this Talulah." Rhys says. I turn around and see Rhys holding up a pair of faded, poorly painted, Mickey Mouse ears. Like the type that you get from Disney. I gently take them from his embrace and look at the figures that were painted on the ears.

Stitch and Lilo were both painted on the right ear with Ara's signature at the bottom of the painting and on the left ear I had painted the aliens from Toy Story.

I chuckle lightly at the memory of Ara getting paint all over herself in order to make her ear look good.

"I remember this. We had bought a pair of white ears and I had wanted to paint them so Ara brought fabric paint and painted the right ear before I could do anything." I smile, keeping the out of the box.

"Do you remember what happened when we brought it back to Disney?" Rhys asked while taping one of the last boxes.

"Yes, the staff thought that we had stolen the ears and we had to show them the time lapse that we had taken." I say, putting in the last of my clothes into the box.

"Then they wanted to buy it from us and make it a part of their collaboration program." He says, finally taping up the last box.

"And we're done." He says, stretching his limbs since they had gone numb.

"We are done." I mutter, looking at the apartment. It was stripped of all evidence that somebody lived there, all the personal artifacts were gone except for the clothes that we were planning to wear tomorrow and the items that we had to put in our Carry- Ons.

I move towards the kitchen that was full of perishable foods and pointed towards it,

"What are we gonna do about this?" I point toward the loads of junk food in our cabinets and Rhys puts a finger to his temple, trying to think of something,

"Why don't we give it to our neighbors?" He asks and I nod in agreement and start putting the food into boxes. My mind was on overtime as it was thinking about how I would adjust in a completely new country, with new traditions and cultures.

"Do you want to come with me?" Rhys asks while putting his shoes on, struggling when his laces slip from his hands.

"Nah, I'll pass. You go ahead, I'll go to sleep early in order to get used to the time difference ok?" I say, wiping my eyes.

"Okay." Rhys says, walking out of the apartment looking like Santa Claus. I smile childishly and look at my apartment,

This was the end of my chapter in DC and the start of my chapter in London.
