Twenty two-Lawyers and Neverland

The doors to the elevators open, revealing a casual office room. There were cubicles in the center and big glass offices to the side. I raise a brow, how the hell would I find the sponsors?

Okay, use your common sense Talulah, the sponsors must be big people and big people have offices right? I let out a small huff,

"Should have watched Legally Blonde," I mutter walking around the perimeter of the office, looking at the names plastered on the glass.

Finally, I found what looks like Valentin's office. It had a very pretty view of DC that you could see through the door. I knock and he says,

"Come in." I sigh and walk-in playing with the straps of my purse. He doesn't look up,

"You do know that you have to check in first."

"With who?" I ask, my voice instantly going up a couple of octaves, since I was nervous. He looks up at me and his eyes widen,

"Talulah. I didn't expect you to come this early." He motions for me to give him one second as he goes outside and yells,

"Where the hell is Ty?" He waits, until he gets a small answer and nods, closing the door.

"Ty?" I ask, looking at the capitol building that I could make out from the view.

"He's Pearson and I'm Valentin." He explains while making an alcoholic drink.

"Ok." I nod, trying to absorb all the information. He looks at me scanning over my outfit,

"I didn't expect you to dress up this well."

"I didn't expect you to be a lawyer." I reply seeing him smirk playfully,

"Touche."

Suddenly Ty walks into the room but stops in his tracks looking

at my outfit,

"Second star to the right and straight on till morning." He says and I blush,

"That's where you'll find Neverland." I say, smiling lightly. Peter Pan was always such a nostalgic movie for me. I used to watch it with Ara as she would interrupt the movie saying that she would marry Tiger Lily in an instant.

"So, Wendy do you know why you're here?" He asks as I cock my head, why was he calling me Wendy?

"Wendy?"

"We don't know your name." Ty says. My memory rewinds as I nod, I did not tell them my name.

"I'm Talulah. What's your name Valentin?" I ask, looking through his extensive collection of vinyls. He had everything before the 2000s in vinyl. He takes my hand and gently guides it off the shelf, gently forcing me to sit down,

"I'm Romeo." He says, moving back towards his chair. I clear my throat, wanting to get back to business.

"What am I doing here?" I ask, I know for sure that I didn't come here to do small talk. I came here to talk business. Ty and Romeo straighten their backs and Ty slides something towards me,

"What's this?" I ask, opening the folder. I look in to see that I got a subpoena. My eyebrows raised, was I getting sued? I put my hands up,

"Ok, ok you caught me. I used six dollars from Axel to get my netflix subscription!" I say quickly, hoping that my sentence would be reduced. They look at me, amused, before Ty says,

"A subpoena is what you need to appear in court. You're not in trouble Talulah."

"I'm not?" I ask,

"Then who is the case against?"

Both of them look at each other before Romeo sits next to me, touching my shoulder,

"Max Rigald, your ex. He's accused of Sexual Harassment."

I tense up, shaking my head. He always ruins everything, In London and here. I play with the ring and look up meeting Romeo's reassuring eyes.

"What do you need from me?" I ask, my voice wavering at the end, my confident facade gone.

"We need you to go on the stand." Ty says as Romeo death glares him. I look up, wiping my lone tear,

"How badly do you need me? Am I the only witness?" He looks at me before shaking his head,

"We just need you to answer one question."

"From your side? Will the opposition cross examine me?" They look at me flabbergasted at the fact that I knew such a simple fact.

"Will they?"

"Yes." I look down, playing with my purse.

"I should have never gotten engaged to him. He was the one who rushed it, I just thought that it was the right thing to do." I sigh and look up,

"I'll do it. One condition though." I say, brushing a strand of blonde hair behind my ear.

"Yes?"

"You'll have to protect me. I won't answer the opposition's questions if they pester too much, okay?"

"You have a deal." He says, sticking his hand out. I grab it,

"Don't make me regret this." I say. They both nod and I sit in the chair awkwardly. Romeo looks at me before asking a question,

"Can I take you out for dinner?" My eyes popped way open after hearing that. I've barely met this man and he's asking me to dinner? Nuh uh. How do I phrase this nicely though?

"I would-" The lie slips out of my mouth like butter. Crap Talulah, can you never learn how to phrase things properly.

"I would but wouldn't that be another case of interest? You know the opposing side might ask about that and you never know what a jury will vote on." I say sympathetically. He looks down,

"True. Maybe after?" He asks, as I nod,

"Yes, after. Goodbye Romeo, for now." I say, walking out of the office. When I go into the elevator I bump into Ty. He stutters before saying,

"Can I have your number?" My eyes pop out of their socket, once again. Him too? He sees my expression and quickly adds,

"So I can tell you about the deposition and when the trial is?" I refrained a sigh and nodded.

"Ok." I gave him my phone and he typed it into the phone. I walk out the firm and see Axel, waiting in the car.

"How did it go?" I give him the stink eye.

"Good. I need to change into a new pair of clothes."

g"I've got you covered." He says throwing me a new pair of clothes and my tote. I walked over to the closest public bathroom and changed. There was a pair of leggings and an oversized sweatshirt that I was sure wasn't mine. I throw it over my head and breathe in the scent. Rhys. This was Rhys's sweatshirt.

I throw my flats in the bag and find some shoes in it. I throw those on and wash my face, clearing it of any makeup and walk out the door.

I throw the tote at Axel and get in the passenger seat. He gets in and I narrow my eyes at him,

"They were never sponsors were they?" He sighs and looks at me,

"No, they contacted me saying that they could shut down the firm. All they said was they wanted to see you." I closed my eyes, clenching my fists repeatedly.

"And all of that talk?"

"It was orchestrated." I look at him and sigh, how would I forgive him?

"I'm sorry Talulah." I look towards him and nod, assessing the situation. He was cornered into a wall.

"I forgive you. Only, only if you don't do this again." I say firmly. He nods and asks,

"How did it go? Actually?"

"I got asked out twice."
