Fifty Five-Spidey Man

"I am a GOD, you dull creature!"I scream in sync with Loki. Rhys had left the house and I had opened his tv and decided to watch Avengers, the obligation of swooning over Tom Hiddleston coming with my decision.

"Yes, you are," I murmur in agreement with the millions of fangirls, sipping my large bottle of Arizona iced tea.

"Why is there a large green ogre on the screen? Shrek, I think was his name?" A high-pitched voice comes out of the corner and I whip around, seeing Minkara leaning against the decorated wall.

"Minnie. Um, you do know that there is such a thing as a knocker right?" I ask, turning the TV off and patting the seat next to me, gesturing for her to sit there. She nods, sitting down and getting comfortable.

"What's new?" I ask, wringing my sweater-clad hands together. She hesitates for a moment and looks me in the eye,

"I lost my maid of honor." She cuts herself out and swallows thickly, nodding her head along silently. I open my mouth, quickly shutting it when I realize that I have no idea how to tip-toe over this.

I get up silently, no noise present except for the creaking of the couch, and move to the kitchen, brewing her a cup of hot chocolate.

"I'm sorry about that. Did you tell Kai?" I ask slowly, not wanting to trigger any bottled up feelings. The kettle screams, the hot steam hitting my face. I pour the hot water, the powder following shortly after. She wordlessly shakes her head, a couple of stray tears running down her face. My mouth drops open and I rush towards her, both mugs in hand, to try and comfort her,

"No, no. Why are you crying?" I ask, setting the mugs on the table and wiping her tears off her face.

"My best friend left me! She's such a-" She mumbles the rest in Korean, my brain automatically filling colorful words in the blanks. I nod along, sympathy gracing my features. I hand her the cup of steaming hot chocolate,

"Ya, some people are just butts in general. But, you can't let yourself be moping over it for the rest of your life." I say, sipping the tea, stroking her hair as she calms down.

The hot glass meets the cold metal of the table with a soft clink. Minkara looks over the edge with watery eyes,

"Have you had friends that treated you like crap?" I pause, my mouth going dry.

"You don't have to if you don't want to." She quickly rushes out, stumbling over her words. I shake my head, I would have to tell her to give her some examples.

"I do. My best friend in the whole world, besides Rhys of course. Um.. she told someone a really sensitive fact about me to someone just to meet a famous person." My heart clenches when the memory of Araluen comes back to my head. Minnie looks down,

"I'm sorry about that." I shake my head, waving her off,

"It's not your fault, why are you apologizing. And plus, I got new friends out of the loss." I shrug it off and she narrows her eyes at the floor, her eyes tearing up again.

"Why are you crying? Oh no, should I have not told you about that?" I panic, and a half sob and laugh comes out of Minnie, who's got my pale wrist around her arms.

"No, that's not the problem. I'm thinking about what I'm going to do about it for my wedding." I let out a sharp exhale as she chuckles sarcastically, she was right, she would need to find a new maid of honor.

"What about your other bridesmaids?" I ask, getting up and putting the dishes in the sink. She sighs,

"My mother only let me choose the maid of honor. That was the only way they would pay for the wedding." She groans, trying to get her body on top of the counter, swinging her legs like a child.

"Really? That's not fair at all." I point out, sitting next to her on the counter. She shrugs her shoulders,

"That's the only way that Kai's parents wouldn't have to pay for the whole wedding. Sometimes things have to be sacrificed for the greater good." She murmurs the last part under her breath, which I barely caught.

"I agree. I know what that feels like." I murmur back, intertwining our hands encouragingly. She stiffens when my hands encompass hers and look down. I freeze, thinking that she took this the wrong way, and try to get my hands out of her grip.

"Please don't." She says, her voice barely over a whisper. I do as she says and keep my hands intertwined with hers, feeling warmth bloom from her sweater paws.

We sat like that for a couple of minutes, arms connected, feet swinging from the short countertop. The sound of the clock ticking was echoing through the house, allowing for no other sound to be heard. Minnie suddenly breaks the silence,

"Why don't you be my maid of honor?" She asks innocently, causing me to choke on my spit.

"Say what?" I ask, my eyebrows flying up and disappearing into my hairline.

"You know, I was asking if you wanted to be my maid of honor?" She says, without batting an eye.

"Are you sure? I mean you've just met me and our parents haven't even met." I chuckle nervously,

"What are we? Seven? Do we need to ask our parents if we can have a sleepover, knowing that they'll say no because they don't know our parents?" She asks rhetorically, hopping off the countertop and putting all her weight on her right leg, jutting her hip out.

"I've never had my parents do that," I mutter, my mind running in circles.

"Your parents weren't Asian." She fires back and I sigh, accepting defeat.

"Why do you even want me as your maid of honor?" I ask, wanting to have a solid reason just in case Rhys asks me later. Minnie raises her eyebrows,

"Why wouldn't I? You've always supported me in the week that I've known you and would never betray anybody." She says, getting ready for a rant. I sigh,

"Okay, fine. But on one condition only." Minnie smiles, a more radiant one than Rhys,

"Yes?" She asks, leaning forward in anticipation,

"You watch the Avengers with me."
