Fifty Eight-Manic:929

"I don't dance man, I make money move." The startling sound of Cardi B wakes me up on Minnie's wedding day. I roll over in the too-soft bed and look carefully at the time, bolting out of the bed when I realize that it was 11 and the wedding started at five in the afternoon.

"Holy crap! Minnie!" I scream at the top of my lungs, not knowing anything about the layout of this place.

"SLAM" The front door bursts open and Minkara comes running in wearing a proper outfit, unlike me.

"What happened Tal? Did someone steal your shoes? It must have been Anoona, she has a humongous obsession with converse, especially high tops." She asks, rushing everything out in ten seconds.

"No,-" I start my sentence, and her rambling starts all over again,

"OH SHOOT! Did you lose your phone? I swore that before you passed out, I tucked your phone in one of these drawers." She frantically goes into the drawers and looks through them. Finally, she pulls out my yellow iPhone and puts it delicately in front of me. I nod my head slightly,

"Thanks. Um, but I wasn't gonna ask about- wait I passed out? What exactly happened last night?" Suddenly what Minnie said hit me, when did I pass out last night. Minkara freezes in place and looks at me, a startled look falling over her face,

"Pass out? When?" Her voice raises an awkward pitch and I instant tell that she's lying. A small smile creeps on to my face as I have to stifle my laughter,

"You can tell me what happened. I won't be mad." I tell her, giving her a reassuring smile. She purses her lips, nodding,

"Okay. Um.. when you met the other bridesmaids you called them aesthetic as fudge. You also drank a little bit, which led me to discover that you're a lightweight. After about two drinks, you were spilling all the tea about your art life and how you have a crush on Rhys. Um, I think that that's all."

She nods and I sit there stunned. Did I drink? I'm a lightweight? Since when? When Ara and I used to be friends, I could handle my alcohol pretty well. I shrug my shoulders,

"Eh, things change," I mutter underneath my breath. Minnie slightly breathes out and sits next to me,

"So? You and Rhys?" She knocks her shoulder against my shoulder as she drills me. My hands go to the cross, only to be stopped by my mind.

Rhys gave me the necklace to help support him, his mother was right and he cared for me. I was just too blind to notice.

"Hello?" She asks, pulling me out of my trance. I snap back to reality, pressing my lips together firmly,

"It's going. Apparently, he's had a crush on me since high school and I was too stupid to notice." I mutter, pulling the cross charm across the chain slowly.

"Does it go the other way?" She asks softly, noticing my state of mind and deciding to avoid the crying route.

"It might," I say, remembering all the times in high school when I had a crush on Rhys, but not telling him because Ara had a crush as well and I wanted to give her a chance.

I take a look at the clock and it tells me that it's 11:30 and I whirl towards her,

"I need to get my dress and my shoes from Rhys's house!" I exclaim, quickly pulling my shoes on, the somber mood long forgotten. Minnie snickers slightly and goes into her closet, pulling out the dress and a pair of four-inch heels.

"I sort of already picked them up." She says, her voice rising in pitch as she shrugs her shoulders. I raise my eyebrows, narrowing my eyes at her playfully,

"Did you plan this beforehand?"

"Maybe?"

"Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap." Minnie curses underneath her breath in Korean as she fists the silky material of the robe in her right hand. I run towards her,

"What? What happened Minkara?" I ask, softly rubbing her shoulders up and down.

"The hairstylist and makeup artist just left. WITHOUT DOING MY MAKEUP." She slides down the wall and starts to sob in her hands. I quickly squat down next to her,

"Hey. Hey, Minkara, look at me." I rushed out, softly tilting her chin up so she could face me. She does as told and sniffles lightly,

"What happened?" I ask, sitting down next to her, letting my feet extend so I don't flash anybody. She sniffles and wipes her face on the robe,

"I let Anoona get her makeup and hair done first and she was complaining the whole time, forcing the stylists to change everything. By the time she was done, they had to leave." She sobs out and I hug her, pulling her into my embrace. She buries her head into my chest,

"What am I gonna do?" She asks and I pull her out of my chest,

"I can attempt to do your makeup and hair. I'm not the best though, so I understand if you don't want me to-"

"No, thank you so much!" She squeals, throwing her arms around me and hugging me to death.

As I send her to grab her makeup and hair tools, I locate my phone and the tiny speaker, waiting in the styling room.

"Makeup or hair first?" She asks twirling around in the chair. I scroll through my phone and play 929 by Halsey, letting the lyrics bounce around the room.

"Makeup first, it's to make sure that we don't stain your gown," I say, unzipping the bag and starting to apply foundation to her face.

"Nobody loves you, they just try to front you and put you on the feature on the b side."

I hum along to the music as I finish putting the last of the highlighter on her face, pulling back to let her look at herself in the mirror.

"Is it good?" I ask hesitantly, and she stares at her reflection, speechless,

"Wow." I chuckle slightly and push her towards the bathroom, handing her the wedding dress,

"Here you go."

A couple of minutes later she appears, encased in white tulle, making her look exquisite. I squeal, cupping my face,

"You look so pretty!" I say gesturing her back into the seat, taking out her high ponytail. I take out the curler and curl her hair into loose ringlets, finishing the look with a couple of flowers. I take the light pink lipstick and hand it to her,

"Here you go." She swipes the lipstick on and looks at herself in the mirror, smiling in happiness, her smile bright enough to overpower the sun. Suddenly the smile drops as she looks at me,

"What about you? There are 30 minutes till the wedding starts." She asks, fretting. I smile, thankful that she cares about me,

"I got this," I say, pulling my makeup pouch out. I put a light sweep of foundation on, then moving to eyes, swiping on eyeliner, and putting highlight in the corner of my eyes and on my cheekbones.

I grab my dress off the rack and run to the bathroom, ready to change. The burnt caramel satin material slides over my skin as I look at myself in the mirror. My eyes linger at the cross necklace, wondering if I should keep it on. I sigh out,

"Why are relationships so complicated?" I mutter, walking out the bathroom door. I pull out the pink scrunchie keeping my hair bounded, allowing it to fall in waves down my back. I meet Minnie's gaze,

"I'm done." I cheer like a little kid, gaining a small smile from both Minkara and Anoona,

"Right on time."
