Thirty Four-Adult Vocab 101
"You're just a lost boy-" I shut off my alarm, slamming my hand on the end button on my phone. My phone immediately turns off and I slide out of my bed. I make my bed for the last time and make my way to the bathroom, hurrying to wash my hair and brush my teeth.
I walk out of the bathroom with my hair wrapped in a towel, wearing a towel. My hand blindly grasps the doorknob and locks it, preventing me from accidentally flashing Rhys.
I end up wearing a v neck shirt with a pair of mom jeans, making sure to put a cardigan over it, remembering what Rhys said about London and the cold weather.
I grab my bag which is filled with all my writing tools and all my drawing tools and run downstairs. I end up seeing Rhys, dressed in a pair of black skinnies and a band shirt with his cross hanging on top.
"Are you ready?" Rhys asks, throwing the disposable plate into the trash. I nod, picking up my bag and throwing it over my shoulder. Rhys picks up his bag and does the same thing, walking out of his apartment, leaving me alone to say my goodbyes.
"I guess that this is goodbye then. Thanks for um, supporting me and keeping my stuff safe." I mutter, feeling stupid for talking to my apartment.
I walk out of the apartment and walk down the stairs, seeing Rhys waiting at the bus station. Both of us had sold our cars yesterday, leaving us with no choice but to take the bus to the airport.
"Are you excited to go to London and stay there for a long time?" Rhys asks as we both sit on the sidewalk. I looks down and play with the random rocks on the sidewalk,
"I don't know, I mean I'm excited to move somewhere new. But I'm also worried about how I'm gonna adapt." I say, just as the bus comes.
My hands grasp the handle of the suitcase as I heave it up the steps of the city bus. Rhys follows me and we end up sitting in the back. The bus groans and starts to move slowly to the final destination.
"How do you travel in this?" Rhys exclaims as his head thunks onto the glass as a result of the us shaking so much.
"It's not that bad, you get used to it eventually. I usually listen to music, do you wanna?" I ask, holding out one of my earbuds to him. He shrugs and grabs one, starting to hum along to Kasey Mustgraves.
Finally, the bus stopped and we both got off the bus, sitting in the cold DC air. A cold rush of AC greets us when we enter the airport. We both walk up to the check-in area and get ready for our flight, going through security.
I look at the view and take a sharp exhale,
"Goodbye DC, it was nice knowing you." I say, leaning back and getting ready to adjust to London's weather for the second time in my life.
"Hello, Talulah. Ah, TALULAH!" My eyes slowly open and I see Rhys slapping my shoulder playfully.
"Mph." I roll over, my eyes starting to close once again until Rhys screams,
"Get your virgin butt up!" I choke on my spit and rush to sit up. My cheeks redden as I see multiple parents glare in my direction, causing me to hide underneath the bed. I overhear one of the children's conversions with one of their parents,
"Mommy, Daddy, why did he call her a virgin butt?" My eyes widen and I shrink even more underneath my blanket, leaving Rhys to be the target of the stares.
"Why did you wake me up Rhys?" I ask, while peering out of the window.
"Why did I? Oh! We're landing in fifteen minutes." He says and I look out the window once again to find that I could start to see the individual features of London. I sigh in awe as Rhys's hands come across my waist and buckle my seatbelt for me.
The intercom dings and we start out decent to London Heathrow. My ears pop as the plane lowers down to the tarmac, clutching the armrest as the wheels hit the ground.
"Welcome to London Heathrow airport, we hope you will travel with British Airways again." The intercom turns off and I get up, reaching for my bag and exiting the plane with Rhys following behind me.
"Ugh, so heavy." Rhys pants as he lifts up his bag from the conveyor belt. We had just finished immigration and were now getting out check in bags, leaving the airport.
"It's your fault for packing so much." I say, looking behind me a Rhys's struggling, sleep deprived figure walking behind me. I smile as I run backward, grabbing Rhys's bag for him, making him brighten and start skipping toward the exit.
"Hey! Don't leave me." I yell, starting to drag both my bag and Rhys's bag towards the exit.
"What the hell did this man put in his suitcase?" I grumble, sighing in relief when I get out of the coffee smelling airport. I look around my smile widening when I spot Louie and Tommy talking to Rhys.
"Did you guys forget about me?" I ask, dropping my bag on the floor and leaving it with Rhys. Louie looks at me with a smile on his face and rakes a head through his hair,
"Come here Tal." He arms open and I fly into them. I breathe in his scent and I feel myself get passed into someone else's arms,
"I missed you Stargirl." The voice, Tommy's voice, said and I sneak out of his grasp and look up at him,
"I missed you too Tommy." He tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear and kisses my forehead only to be interrupted by Rhys clearing his throat.
"Shall we go?" He asks and I nod, cheeks an impressive shade of red. I follow them into the car,
"Where are we gonna go?" Louie looks at me through the rearview mirror,
"Archie's. He's throwing a fit again."
