Forty-Cottilion

"Beat!" Matteo yells. Tommy shakes his head playfully, cupping his hands over his mouth,

"No! Lyrics!" We were in the studio again and we had finally decided to start the writing process. The only problem now was deciding which part of the song we would have to make first. Matteo pouts, crossing his arms and looks at Archie,

"What do you want to do?" Archie smirks lazily, the top part of his smile curving upwards. His eyes connect with mine,

"Why don't we let Talulah choose." His British accent lengthens my name in a pleasant way. I stare at him, raising an eyebrow,

"Really?"I ask, shrugging my shoulders up and down in a playful way. Archie had started to become more tolerable after I saw him drunk. More tolerable, what is he, a dog? He became nicer and nobody had said a word about his crush on me. I think for the good of his career we would have to avoid bringing that up.

"Really." He says, sinking back into the couch and sliding his sunglasses onto his face.

"I think that we should do the beats first, so we can get the mood of the track down, than we can write the lyrics accordingly." I say while slowly inching towards Archie. My hands quickly snatch the glasses of his nose,

"Wearing your glasses inside is a no-no." I wiggle my finger at him, scolding him like an old lady. Archie gets up and reaches for the glasses,

"Give them Talulah!" I pull them back and dance around, spinning in circles. I smile widely, my body feeling the lightest it had felt in a while.

"Tal." Archie barely gives me anytime to think before he picks me up, spinning me around until I got dizzy. My hands clamp around his shoulder, prying my nails into his shoulder blade for safety. He throws me up and I scream, my eyes closing shut. His hands clamp around my waist as quickly as they left. He pulls me down towards him,

"I'm always gonna catch you T." He whispers into my ear and pries the glasses out of my grip, leaving me blushing and bright red.

"Wha- Whe- Why- why would he do that?" I stutter out under my breath, sitting in the office chair next to the producer. The band stares at me as Charlotte wiggles her eyebrows,

"Was that a blush that I saw on your face Tal?" She asks as the others fall in behind her, leaning in to catch the tea.

"What no! It's just really hot!" I facepalm again at my lying skills. It's always colder than Canada in the studio, but I have to go with the flow. To sell my lie, I fan my face aggressively, trying to get them to think that I was cold.

"Really Stargirl? Out of all those excuses you chose that one! You suck at lying." Louie responds while twirling his drumstick, air drumming an imaginary beat.

"I know." I slouch down, wanting nothing more than to be swallowed whole.

"Let's start?" Archie comes back into the room after going out to get something of his.

"That's what I've been whining about for the past hour." The producer says, swiveling his chair around to face us.

"Blah, Blah Blah." Matteo rolls his eyes and makes his hand speak like a puppet. The producer's eyes widen as he turns around and boots his computer up,

"Wow." He murmurs, pressing and holding the power button. The computer doesn't turn on and her fists bang against the keyboard,

"Ok, what's the mood that we're going for?" He asks and Archie shrugs,

"Something that sounds happy but when we write the lyrics it should sound sad." He says, laying back on the couch.

"Are we making a single or a whole album?" The producer asks while taking notes in her notebook. She looks toward me and I feel out of place. What was I doing here if we weren't writing the lyrics?

I sigh softly and pack up my stuff, standing up to exit the room When Archie gently grabs my wrist,

"Where are you going? I haven't upset you have I?" Concern fills his voice as I look at him, flabbergasted, he was thinking about me? I smiled internally, he had changed.

"No, it's just I can't help with making the track music." I explain, playing with my newly painted nails, causing Tommy to groan,

"Stargirl! I had just painted those nails." I look at my hands and see pink nail polish all over. I smile sheepishly,

"Oops?"

"Hello? You were talking to me?" Archie's fingers snap in front of my face, bringing me back to our conversation.

"Oh, sorry. Why would you need me?" I ask, shifting all my weight to a nearby wall.

"You can play multiple instruments and have a good sense of rhythm." He says, not missing a beat.

"So?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"So. So you can help me out with the process of making all my music!" He exclaims, throwing his hands up like a child. I chuckle at his face and set the bag back down on the couch.

"Okay, now that that's settled let's figure out the guitar part first." The producer says, aiming the question towards Tommy who picks up his strat and swings it around his neck.

"What scale?" He asks, tuning the strings to the standard tuning.

"Maybe a D minor?" Archie suggests as I shake my head, D minor is one of the saddest scales out there.

"That's a really sad scale." I mumble out, biting my lip in concentration.

"Maybe the A minor?" Charlotte says, her fingers skimming over the keys as a very peppy sounding scale comes out making me bob along.

"That's the one." Louie says and I nod along, if we used that it would give off a very fake happy vibe.

Tommy nods his head as his fingers slide up and down the fretboard, finding the box where the notes would have to fit. I lean down and slowly start to pat a beat that came to my mind on the floor. Louie looks at me and does the same thing with his drumsticks,

"And this here, is why we chose you Stargirl."
